Underdogs Unleashed: Wizards, Pistons, and Blazers Flip the Script

NBA Recap: October 24, 2025

Yesterday delivered a spicy slate of NBA action, with Jalen Brunson and Luka Doncic headlining a night of statement wins and unexpected twists. Brunson dropped a smooth 31 points to lead the Knicks past the Celtics 105–95, capitalizing on Boston’s post-Tatum adjustment period. Meanwhile, Doncic torched the Timberwolves for 49 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists in just under 35 minutes, powering the Lakers to a 128–110 win and cementing his role as LA’s new offensive engine. The Trail Blazers stunned Golden State 139–119 behind a balanced attack that exposed the Warriors’ defensive lapses.

Elsewhere, the Wizards flipped the script on the Mavericks, pulling off a 117–107 upset in Dallas despite entering with just a 19% win probability. Other upsets included the Atlanta Hawks over the Magic 111-107, the Pistons outlasted the Rockets 115–111, and the Kings squeaked past the Jazz 105–104 in a nail-biter. The Clippers steamrolled the Suns 129–102 at the Intuit Dome, showcasing their depth and defensive intensity. From underdog triumphs to superstar fireworks, the night served up a reminder: the NBA’s regular season may be young, but it is already shaping out to be a season that will likely be wide open.

NBA Fast Break Results: Day 4

It was brought to our attention that our “Studs” were based on inflated figures as we were using the NBA Top Shot Fast Break top players page as our baseline, but those numbers were (and continues) using the 1.50% captains bonus (ex: Draymond Green had 8 assists, but showed 12 assists).

But it was the fourth consecutive day where over 60% of Fast Breakers earned a win. In this case, 83% walked away victorious. Luka Doncic had himself a day as he scored 49 points, which were the most out of all players yesterday. He also happened to be the third most utilized player, which helped him earn the Fast Break Stud of the Day award.

On the other hand, Alperen Sengun & Devin Booker both scored less than 20 points (17 & 18 respectively) and they were both in the top five of most utilized players. If you had either in your lineup, they likely dragged down your lineup as 25 points was the required threshold. With that said, either could qualify as the Fast Break Dud of the Day.

Today’s Fast Break Objective(s): Day 5 of 13

Objective(s): 40 Rebounds & 10 Offensive Rebounds (8.0 REB & 2.0 OREB)

You’ll need five (5) players who will accumulate 40.0 or more rebounds & 10.0 or more offensive rebounds, which means each player will need to average 8.0 REB & 2.0 OREB. These two objectives are highly correlated, so finding players who can get you both are the ideal candidates. Keep in mind the first player in your lineup is your Captain, and receives a bonus on their accumulated stats. Plan accordingly.

Top Player Options:

Glass Crashers:

  • S Tier: Isaiah Hartenstein, Nikola Vucevic

  • A Tier: Mark Williams, Nikola Jokic, Moussa Diabate, Wendell Carter

  • B Tier: Onyeka Okongwu, Miles Bridges, Jalen Johnson

Top Five (5) Players in Pro Lineups: N. Vucevic (82%) | I. Hartenstein (59%) | W. Carter Jr. (38%) | M. Bridges (33%) | P. Siakam (32%)

Upcoming Fast Break Objectives:

  • Objectives remaining (after today):

    • 2x: 3PM, 3PA, BLK, PITP, STL

    • 1x: FGM, FGA, AST-TO, AST, REB, OREB

  • Tomorrow Objective(s): 5 Blocks & 5 Steals (1.0 BLK & 1.0 STL)

Considerations:

  • Charlotte & Orlando have the most games remaining (6)

  • Houston has the least games remaining (3)

  • Day 7 & 9 all have 20 or more teams in action, so they’ll have the most flexibility

  • Day 10 only has eight teams in action, so that’ll be the least flexible day remaining

  • The always challenging AST-TO objective will be on Day 10 (Oct 30)

  • The Emirates NBA Cup tips on in early November

Statistical Approach:

Top players in rebounds & offensive rebounds according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 (when available), and season averages, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ members, all active player stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Witty’s Fast Break Challenge:

In NBA Fast Break, how often you can use a player depends on the value of their moments—measured by average sale price. That system can put newer and/or smaller collectors at a disadvantage, limiting their ability to compete. This segment is designed to level the playing field, giving resourceful collectors a shot at rewards and proving that smart strategy can still win, even without a stacked collection.
