CASTLE TRIPLE-DOUBLES AS SPURS CRUISE PAST BUCKS

San Antonio Spurs 127, Milwaukee Bucks 95

Stephon Castle had the best individual game of Saturday's slate — 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting (2-of-4 from three), 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 76.8% true shooting. A genuine triple-double that anchored a dominant performance. De'Aaron Fox contributed 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting with 6 assists and a +22 alongside him. The Fox-Castle-Wemby trio ran Milwaukee ragged — San Antonio led by 38 at their biggest margin, won by 32, and controlled every quarter except the third.

Wembanyama posted 23 points, 15 rebounds, and drew 10 fouls — though he shot just 7-of-21 from the field. Devin Vassell added 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting (4-of-7 from three) and Keldon Johnson was 6-of-8 for 16 points. San Antonio moves to 56-18, now just 2 games behind OKC's 58-16 for the West's top seed — and they have momentum, health, and a complete roster that is hitting its stride at the right moment.

Milwaukee fell to 29-45 and absorbed its sixth straight loss and are 2-8 in their last ten games.

DETROIT LOCKS DOWN MINNESOTA

Detroit Pistons 109, Minnesota Timberwolves 87

Minnesota shot 31.8% from the field and 20.9% from three. Detroit's defense made them look like a team still figuring itself out, and the result wasn't close from the second quarter on. The Pistons blocked 9 shots and generated 11 steals — a defensive performance that felt like a statement. Tobias Harris led Detroit with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting (2-of-4 from three) and added 4 blocks. Jalen Duren had 10 and 13 rebounds, Ronald Holland II contributed 13 with 2 steals and 2 blocks, and the bench scored 52 points.

Minnesota's best individual line came from Donte DiVincenzo, who had 22 points on 7-of-18 shooting — the most efficient night on an otherwise bleak offensive performance. Julius Randle was 2-of-13 from the field for just 11 points. Rudy Gobert had 14 points and 12 rebounds but went 2-of-4 from the free throw line and finished -11. Naz Reid shot 3-of-15 for an abysmal 8 points. Detroit is 54-20 and grinding toward the East's best record. Minnesota drops to 45-29 — still locked into the 5-seed, but their offensive struggles against elite defenses are a genuine concern heading into the playoffs.

EMBIID AND MAXEY HOLD OFF CHARLOTTE

Philadelphia 76ers 118, Charlotte Hornets 114

The Hornets grabbed a 15-point lead in the first quarter and Philadelphia came all the way back. Charlotte's hot streak hit resistance: they shot 30.9% from three on 55 attempts — still going up, just not converting at the rates that had made them unstoppable. Kon Knueppel, who'd been Charlotte's breakout performer for five games running, shot 3-of-14 with just 3 threes made from 10 attempts. He still double-doubled with 11 points and 11 rebounds, so his presence mattered — but that shooting line will be talked about.

Joel Embiid led Philadelphia with 29 on 8-of-19 shooting (3-of-6 from three) and 10-of-13 from the free throw line, drawing 9 fouls in the process. Tyrese Maxey had 26 with 8 assists on 10-of-18 shooting and 65.8% true shooting. Paul George added 26 with 13 rebounds and 4 steals — a complete defensive performance that was crucial in the final five minutes. Charlotte's Brandon Miller had 29 points on 8-of-17 shooting (5-of-11 from three), and LaMelo Ball went 7-of-26 for 20 points — grinding for every bucket. Philadelphia moves to 41-33 and holds the 7-seed in the East, but have their sights set on moving out of the play-in tournament. Charlotte drops to 39-35 and falls back to 10th.

JOHNSON AND NAW LEAD ATLANTA'S SHOWCASE

Atlanta Hawks 123, Sacramento Kings 113

Jalen Johnson was brilliant — 26 points on 11-of-21 shooting (4-of-11 from three) with 10 assists and just 4 turnovers in another all-around dominant performance. It's three strong games in a row for Johnson after a difficult stretch, and his versatility as a playmaking forward is what will make Atlanta dangerous in the playoffs. Nickeil Alexander-Walker backed him up with 27 on 7-of-14 shooting (4-of-9 from three), 9-of-9 from the line, 8 assists, and 4 steals — 75.2% true shooting on a high-volume night. Jock Landale double-doubled off the bench with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting and 13 rebounds.

Sacramento had 22 points in the fourth but couldn't overcome Atlanta's second-quarter explosion — the Hawks outscored the Kings 39-24 in the second period to break the game open. DeRozan had 22 points on 9-of-18 shooting with 3 assists. Precious Achiuwa was the Kings' most efficient player — 16 on 8-of-11 shooting (72.7% FG) with 6 rebounds. Maxime Raynaud had 18 and 10 rebounds. Atlanta holds the 6-seed at 42-33 with real momentum going into the final two weeks, which they’ll need to hold off the teams in their rearview mirror if they want to stay out of the play-in tournament.

MEMPHIS STEALS THE NIGHT — LITERALLY

Memphis Grizzlies 125, Chicago Bulls 124

Seventeen steals. Memphis had 17 steals against a Chicago team that turned it over 23 times, and it was the entire difference in a one-point game. Cedric Coward led Memphis with 24 on 10-of-19 shooting and 4 steals of his own. Jahmai Mashack added 17 on 8-of-12 shooting, Rayan Rupert had 14, and Tyler Burton chipped in 18. And Memphis's third quarter — 42 points on the scoreboard — was the decisive swing in what became a chaotic final frame.

Chicago never gave up. Matas Buzelis had 29 points on 10-of-21 shooting with 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 14 fast-break points — an explosive offensive performance that nearly pulled off a remarkable comeback. Collin Sexton had 26 points including 11-of-13 from the line. Josh Giddey had yet another triple-double as he scored 18 points, gathered 13 rebounds, and accumulated 10 assists. Chicago outscored Memphis 36-27 in the fourth, but Memphis's third-quarter buildup was just enough to survive.

PHOENIX BLOWS PAST UTAH BEHIND TEAM EFFORT

Phoenix Suns 134, Utah Jazz 109

No Phoenix player scored more than 19 points. They didn't need one. The Suns had 21 offensive rebounds, scored 21 second-chance points, shot 50% from the field, and led by 34 at their peak. Grayson Allen had 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting (4-of-11 from three). Oso Ighodaro went 6-of-6 from the field for 13 in a perfect shooting night off the bench. Jordan Goodwin had 9 points and 9 rebounds. It was a complete, balanced, dominant performance — the kind that answers questions about Phoenix's readiness for the play-in.

Utah's Kyle Filipowski had 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting (82.5% TS) — the most efficient big man line of the night. Brice Sensabaugh had 26 more. But Utah gave up 29 at the rim on 39 attempts (74.4% conversion for Phoenix), and their defense gave Phoenix way too many second-chance opportunities. The Suns are 41-33 and have a firm grasp on the 7 seed, but have an outside chance at sneaking past the Rockets if they continue to falter down the stretch. They’ll need to keep an eye on a surging LA Clippers team though.

⭐ STAR OF THE NIGHT

Stephon Castle | San Antonio Spurs - 22 PTS | 9-13 FG | 10 REB | 10 AST | 76.8% TS | Triple-Double

On a night where De'Aaron Fox had 12 and 6 assists alongside him, it was Castle who defined the game. Nine-of-thirteen from the field, a 3:1 assist-to-turnover ratio, 10 rebounds from the guard position, and 76.8% true shooting. The triple-double was earned, not inflated — Castle was the best player on the floor for a team that won by 32. With Fox, Wemby, and Castle all healthy and developing chemistry in real time, the Spurs look increasingly like the team no one wants to face in the Western Conference playoffs.

💀 DUD OF THE NIGHT

Julius Randle | Minnesota Timberwolves - 11 PTS | 2-13 FG | 34.2% TS | -13

Two-of-thirteen from the field. Detroit's defense took Randle completely out of his game — he couldn't get clean looks in the paint, the midrange wasn't falling, and Minnesota's offense had no secondary creation to lean on when he struggled. The team could only muster 43 total second half points against a Pistons team that locked them down defensively. The Wolves need Randle to be functional in the playoffs. Right now, against elite defenses, he's not.

QUICK TAKES

  • Castle with a triple-double. Wemby drawing 10 fouls. Fox with 12 and 6 assists. San Antonio is 57-18 and closing on OKC for the 1-seed with their best basketball arriving at exactly the right time.

  • Detroit held Minnesota to 31.8% FG. That's playoff-level defensive intensity in late March. The Pistons are 54-20 and quietly building toward something special, even without Cade Cunningham in the lineup for a few more weeks.

  • Embiid had 29, Maxey had 26, PG had 26. PHI needed all of it to beat a Hornets team that led by 15 in the first quarter. Charlotte’s streak ends, but they have their sights on moving out of the play-in tournament.

  • Knueppel went 3-of-14. He was coming off a 26/11/8 game. He still had 11 rebounds and a double-double. That context matters. Charlotte at 39-35 is a dangerous play-in team.

  • Jalen Johnson 26 points 10 assists, NAW scored 27 on 75.2% TS on the same night. Atlanta at 42-33 is the East's 6-seed and has three genuinely good players at their best simultaneously.

  • Memphis had 17 steals. In one game. Chicago had 23 turnovers. That's the difference between winning by double digits and winning by one.

  • Matas Buzelis 29 in a loss — 14 fast-break points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks. Chicago's young core keeps producing on both ends in games that don't count for much. That's a healthy sign for the future.

  • Phoenix's 21 offensive rebounds against Utah. They're not a team with a superstar right now, but they're playing physically, competing for second chances, and making the play-in very interesting.
