No Safe Seats — Philadelphia Climbs, Charlotte Falls, and San Antonio Won't Stop

Detroit Dominates, San Antonio Won't Stop. Detroit rolls past Minnesota 109–87 and moves to 54–20, making the Eastern 1-seed look more untouchable by the day. San Antonio, meanwhile, dismantled Milwaukee 127–95 to move to 56–18 — that's 8 straight wins and decreases the gap back to 2.0 games behind OKC. The most compelling race in the West just got one half game tighter.

The 5/6 Race in the West Tightens and Phoenix Gains Control of the 7 Seed. Detroit's blowout win over Minnesota costs the Timberwolves — they drop to 45–29, and with Houston idle at 44–29, the gap between the 5 and 6 seeds is now just half a game. Meanwhile, Phoenix snaps its skid with a 134–109 beatdown of Utah, moving to 41–33 and pulling to within 3.5 games of Houston for the 6-seed. They have an outside chance of catching the Rockets, but they’ll need them to falter down the stretch.

Philadelphia Snaps Charlotte's Streak, Atlanta Bounces Back. Philadelphia ends Charlotte's 5-game win streak with a 118–114 win, climbing to 41–33 and moving into the 7-seed. The Hornets drop to 39–35 and fall to 10th, now tied with Miami on the outside looking in, but they continue to have a chance at moving up. Atlanta beats Sacramento 123–113 to bounce back after Friday's loss to Boston, moving to 42–33 and staying tied with Toronto for the 5/6 seeds. The Hawks aren't going anywhere quietly.

The Eastern Bubble Gets a New Shape. Orlando is now the only team standing at 39–34, holding the 8-seed alone after Philadelphia's win and Charlotte's loss reshuffled everything below them. Philadelphia at 41–33 sits in 7th, one game clear. Miami and Charlotte are tied at 39–35 in 9th and 10th and are on track to play one another in the Play-In Tournament. Tomorrow's slate — Charlotte hosting Boston and Toronto hosting Orlando — could reshuffle everything again before the week is out.
