WNBA Fast Break Classic | 2025 Playoffs | Day 13
Today’s Objective(s): 3 Blocks & 15 Rebounds
Overview:
We are in the final stretch of the WNBA season and if Phoenix cannot turn things around on home court, there may only be a handful of games remaining. The WNBA Finals transitions 332 miles south of Las Vegas to Phoenix for the next two games. Should Phoenix win at least one, we’ll head back to Vegas for Game 5. As Becky Hammon told her team, the series isn’t over yet and they should continue to focus on the process of playing well and not their past success against the Mercury.
If they dominate like they did in Game 2, the opportunities to earn your 8th win and maximize your run-based standing will be over sooner than later. Plan accordingly.
WNBA Recap: October 5th
Jackie Young Erupts, Aces Dominate Game 2 to Take 2–0 Finals Lead (LVA 91, PHO 78)
Las Vegas rolled past Phoenix in Game 2 of the WNBA Finals, behind Jackie Young’s career playoff-high 32 points, including a record-setting 21-point third quarter—the most ever in a Finals period. A’ja Wilson added 28 points and 14 rebounds, and Chelsea Gray posted a 10-point, 10-assist double-double, orchestrating the offense with surgical precision. The Mercury started hot, leading 27–24 after one, but the Aces flipped the script with a 22–10 second quarter and buried Phoenix with a 30-point third. Kahleah Copper led the Mercury with 23 points, Satou Sabally added 22, and Alyssa Thomas chipped in 10 points, 6 boards, and 5 assists despite foul trouble. Becky Hammon improved to 9–0 in Game 2s as Vegas heads to Phoenix with a commanding lead and all the momentum.
Fast Break Results: Day 12
Day 12 was another day where over 50% of participants earned a win…but just barely as 51% walked away on a positive note. With a minimum of two days (and max of five), the goal for most is the achieve 8 wins. For those with the lineup availability, the run-based rewards are the goal. If your lineup options are limited, pick your spots for the remainder of the run.
Chelsea Gray was the 2nd most utilized player (41%) and she paved the way to a win with her 10 assists and 3 steals. With her performance, she earned the Fast Break Star of the Day award. Jackie Young, on the other hand, only had two assists along with a single steal. Although she helped in both categories, they were low contributions relative to her expectations. With her lackluster performance, she earned the Fast Break Dud of the Day award.
WNBA Finals: Best of Seven Series
Phoenix Mercury @ Las Vegas Aces | 8:00PM ET | 12:00PM UTC (Aces Lead 2-0)
The Las Vegas Aces come into Game 3 with a 2–0 series lead and a chance to tighten their grip on the Finals. A’ja Wilson has been dominant, averaging 26 points, 9 rebounds, and nearly 3 blocks per game this postseason, while Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray continue to deliver on both ends. The Aces lead all playoff teams in scoring, offensive efficiency, and effective field goal percentage. The Phoenix Mercury, meanwhile, need a spark—Kahleah Copper and Satou Sabally have shown flashes, and Alyssa Thomas remains a triple-double threat, but Phoenix has struggled to contain Vegas’s pace and spacing. With the series shifting to Phoenix, the Mercury will look to feed off their home crowd and slow the tempo. But if Vegas gets rolling early, Game 3 could feel familiar.
