WNBA Fast Break Classic | 2025 Playoffs | Day 11
Today’s Objective(s): 7 Three Pointers Made & 15 Three Point Attempts
Overview:
We’ve reached the finale of an exciting season and the final two teams standing are the Las Vegas Aces and the Phoenix Mercury, with the former being the slight favorite. Their paths to the final were different, but both are capable of winning the series, so do not anticipate a quick series.
Outside of this series, there are rumblings around the league about the current commissioner’s future, the poor pay scale for rookies, and poor infrastructure to support the anticipated growth over the next few years. Although we’re not quite done with this season, the offseason is already off to a spark. As we watch as those storylines materialize, we’ll surely be treated to a competitive finals.
WNBA Recap: September 30th
Wilson, Young Deliver in OT Classic as Aces Return to Finals (LVA 107, IND 98)
Las Vegas survived a wild overtime thriller to edge Indiana 107–98 and punch its ticket back to the WNBA Finals. A’ja Wilson dropped a monster 35 points and added 8 boards, while Jackie Young matched her intensity with 32 points on 10-of-20 shooting. The Aces shot 47.5% from the field and leaned on Chelsea Gray’s steady 17-point, 6-assist line to close late. Indiana refused to fade—Odyssey Sims poured in 27, Aliyah Boston grabbed 16 rebounds to go with 11 points, and Kelsey Mitchell added 15. By halftime, the teams were separated by only two points. The second half would follow a similar pattern as they ended regulation tied. In overtime though, Vegas took control and earned a hard fought win. After missing the finals last season, they’re back in the Finale.
Fast Break Results: Day 10
Day 10 was the combo breaker as only 28% of Fast Breakers earned a win. With a minimum of four days, but possibly up to seven days, the opportunities to earn wins are dwindling.
A’ja Wilson was utilized in 36% of lineups and she led the way amongst the top five with 8 rebounds and 8 free throws made. With her performance, she earned the Fast Break Star of the Day. Cheyenne Parker-Tyus, on the other hand, was the highest utilized player as 38% took a flier on her…and she let them all down as she did not play a single minute. With her performance (or lack thereof), she was your Fast Break Dud of the Day.
WNBA Finals: Best of Seven Series
Phoenix Mercury @ Las Vegas Aces | 8:00PM ET | 12:00AM UTC (Series Tied 0-0)
Tonight in Las Vegas, the Aces host the Phoenix Mercury in Game 1 of the WNBA Finals, marking the first best-of-seven championship series in league history. A’ja Wilson, fresh off her fourth MVP award and a dominant semifinal run, leads a Vegas squad built on defensive intensity and postseason polish. She’s flanked by Jackie Young, who’s been lights-out from deep, and Chelsea Gray, whose playoff orchestration remains elite. Phoenix arrives battle-tested, with Kahleah Copper and Satou Sabally driving the offense and Alyssa Thomas redefining versatility with her triple-double threat. Expect Vegas to push tempo and test Phoenix’s rotations early, while the Mercury look to disrupt rhythm and lean into their transition game. With both teams loaded and the stakes higher than ever, Game 1 is all about tone-setting.
