WNBA Fast Break Classic | 2025 Playoffs | Day 7

Today’s Objective(s): 5 Offensive Rebounds & 25 Points in the Paint

Overview:

After an exhilarating Game 1 of the WNBA Playoff semifinals, we are primed for an intense Game 2 where the Aces look to rebound and the Lynx look to continue dominating their opponent. Vegas and Minnesota continue to be favored to reach the finals, but one has more work to do than the other to meet those expectations.

As a reminder, the semifinals are a best of five series, so there are no elimination opportunities today.

WNBA Recap: September 21st

Mitchell Torches Aces, Fever Steal Game 1 on the Road (IND 89, LVA 73)

Kelsey Mitchell lit up Las Vegas with a playoff-career high 34 points, powering the shorthanded Indiana Fever to an emphatic 89–73 win over the defending champion Aces in Game 1 of the semifinals. After their lead shrank to three late in the third, the Fever responded with an 11–0 run to seize control and never looked back. Mitchell shot 52.2% from the field and nailed four triples, while Odyssey Sims added 17 and Natasha Howard posted a double-double. The win spoiled A’ja Wilson’s historic fourth MVP celebration, as she struggled to find rhythm, shooting just 6-of-22 from the floor.

Lynx Hold Off Mercury, Veteran Core Delivers in Crunch Time (MIN 82, PHO 69)

Minnesota found themselves trailing Phoenix at the half by 7 points, but turned things around and tied the game by the end of the 3rd quarter. They then leaned on its playoff-tested core to pull away from the Phoenix Mercury in a tighter contest than the score showed. Courtney Williams led the way for the Lynx, scoring 23 points. Both Kayla McBride and Napheesa Collier also scored in double digits. The Mercury, who entered the game with a clean injury report, couldn’t capitalize on key possessions down the stretch and hope to replicate their success in the first half again in Game 2.

Fast Break Results: Day 6

65% of Fast Break participants earned a win, which is the sixth day in a row where more than 60% of collectors earned a win. There are at least six more days remaining in this run (including today) and at most 11 more days (if at least one series goes the distance). Inevitably, this win streak will come to an end and the run-based rewards will be a war of attrition.

Kayla McBride was utilized in 58% of lineups and she delivered the most points of the top five as she chipped in 21 points in a Game 1 win over Phoenix. With her performance, she earned the Fast Break Star of the Day. Although she contributed in other ways considering her double-double in an upset win over the Aces, Natasha Howard only scored 12 points which happen to be the lowest scoring output of the top five. With her performance for the 37% of collectors who leaned on her, she earned the Fast Break Dud of the Day award.

WNBA Playoff Semifinals: Best of Five Series

Phoenix Mercury @ Minnesota Lynx | 7:30PM ET | 11:30PM UTC (Minnesota Leads 1-0)

In Minneapolis, the Minnesota Lynx host the Phoenix Mercury for Game 2 of their semifinal series, and the matchup remains rich with star power. Napheesa Collier leads a Lynx squad built on spacing, defensive versatility, and playoff poise, while Kahleah Copper and Satou Sabally give Phoenix the athleticism and shot creation to challenge Minnesota’s rotations. The Lynx will look to control tempo and dominate the glass, while the Mercury aim to push pace and create mismatches. With both teams still firmly in the hunt, tonight’s game is all about momentum—and whichever core asserts itself early could shape the arc of the series.

Indiana Fever @ Las Vegas Aces | 9:30PM ET | 1:30AM UTC (Indiana Leads 1-0)

The Las Vegas Aces head into Game 2 against the Indiana Fever looking to reset the tone and reclaim control. With A’ja Wilson already named MVP for the fourth time, the focus shifts to execution—Vegas needs sharper ball movement and more production from Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young to stretch Indiana’s defense. The Fever, energized by their Game 1 win, will again lean on Aliyah Boston’s interior presence and Kelsey Mitchell’s perimeter scoring to keep pressure on the Aces. Expect a tactical battle in the halfcourt, with Vegas aiming to reassert its championship identity and Indiana looking to ride its momentum in front of a fired-up home crowd.

Today’s Objective(s): Day 7 of 17

You’ll need five (5) players who will gather 5.0 or more offensive rebounds & score 25.0 or more points in the paint, which means each player will need to average 1.0 OREB & 5.0 PITP. All four remaining teams are in action today, so your ability to achieve today’s target is heavily dependent upon your remaining players. No teams can be eliminated, so look ahead of Thursday’s objectives before finalizing today’s — especially if there is a possibility of it being an elimination game if Las Vegas and/or Phoenix aren’t able to secure a win. Although this has been said before, it is worth mentioning again — legendaries have unlimited use.
