WNBA Fast Break Classic |2025 Playoffs | Day 1
Today’s Objective(s): 20 Field Goals Made & 45 Field Goal Attempts
Overview:
Welcome to the final Fast Break run of the 2025 WNBA Season, which will culminate in the three-round playoffs which includes a first round that is a best of three (1-1-1 format), a semi-final round that is best of five (2-2-1 format), and a championship round that is best of seven (2-2-1-1-1 format).
Unlike the past few runs, this one will span seventeen (17) days, so you’ll need to be strategic with your limited uses based on your collection and decide whether to hold your stat stuffing stars for later rounds or to aim for specific days to earn the daily reward. Keep in mind there are two tiers of win-based rewards, which are earned at four (4) and eight (8) wins. This means you don’t need to earn a win every night to maximize your rewards.
There are four games on today’s slate which will set the tone for the remainder of the first round. All eight (8) teams will be in action today and there are no games scheduled tomorrow. All four home teams are favored to earn a win, so players like Kelsey Mitchell and Nneka Ogwumike may be limited to two uses if they’re swept out of the first round. Should any of the underdogs win today, however, they’ll have a chance to close out their respective series at home later this week. The importance of Game 1 cannot be understated, which will have a direct impact on available players you’ll be able to use in the days ahead.
Round 1: Best of Three Series
Golden State Valkyries @ Minnesota Lynx | 1:00PM ET | 5:00PM UTC (0-0, Tied)
At Target Center, the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx open their postseason against the No. 8 Golden State Valkyries. Minnesota enters as the clear favorite, riding a dominant regular season and boasting the league’s best defense. Kayla McBride and Courtney Williams anchor a balanced attack, while Golden State leans on Temi Fagbenle and Veronica Burton to keep pace. With home-court advantage and playoff-tested depth, the Lynx are projected to take Game 1 and set the tone for a deep run.
Indiana Fever @ Atlanta Dream | 3:00PM ET | 7:00PM UTC (0-0, Tied)
In College Park, the No. 3 Atlanta Dream host the No. 6 Indiana Fever with a 72.6% win probability. Atlanta’s perimeter defense, led by Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray, will look to contain Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, who’ve powered Indiana’s late-season surge. The Dream’s ability to control tempo and limit second-chance points gives them the projected edge in Game 1, though Indiana’s youth and energy could make this series more competitive than the seeding suggests.
New York Liberty @ Phoenix Mercury | 5:00PM ET | 9:00PM UTC (0-0, Tied)
At PHX Arena, the No. 4 Phoenix Mercury face the No. 5 New York Liberty in what’s expected to be the most evenly matched series opener. Kahleah Copper and Alyssa Thomas lead Phoenix’s high-efficiency offense, while New York counters with Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones. With both teams capable of explosive scoring and playoff experience on both benches, Game 1 projects as a toss-up, though Phoenix’s home-court edge could tip the balance.
Seattle Storm @ Las Vegas Aces | 10:00PM ET | 2:00AM UTC (0-0, Tied)
Closing out the night at Michelob ULTRA Arena, the No. 2 Las Vegas Aces host the No. 7 Seattle Storm with a 6-point spread in their favor. A’ja Wilson is averaging nearly 27 points over her last ten games, and Vegas enters on a 10-game win streak, shooting nearly 49% from the field. Seattle, led by Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins, will need to push the pace and capitalize on transition opportunities. With Vegas dominating both ends of the floor, the Aces are projected to take Game 1 and continue their postseason momentum.
