WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 8 | Day 4

Today’s Objective(s): 25 Rebounds & 4 Blocks

Overview:

We're approaching the midway point of this run and the next two Fast Break days have 10 teams in action, although there are no games scheduled tomorrow. The remainder of the run will be tighter, so be sure to plan your lineups and check each day to ensure you have your best options available (while factoring in DNPs and injuries).

In NBA Top Shot news, historical Fast Break will tip off on August 20th with five teams seeing changes to their lineup as five players were voted in including Rashard Lewis in Orlando (replacing Scott Skiles), Lamar Odom for the Lakers (replacing Kurt Rambis), Jalen Rose in Indiana (replacing Roy Hibbert), Cliff Robinson subbing in for Greg Oden in Portland, and Caron Butler subbing in for Jeff Malone in DC. If you do not have at least a common of these players, be sure to pick one up on flowty.io or in the NBA Top Shot marketplace.

Also note that there is an upcoming Run It Back pack drop will take place in about three days and this set will be focused on legacy & phantom threads. As a reminder, you have two days to lock your sets to receive the airdrop.

WNBA Score(s): August 16th

Lynx Hold Off Liberty in Rivals Week Showdown (MIN 86, NYL 80)

In a battle of Eastern and Western contenders, the Minnesota Lynx outlasted the New York Liberty, extending their win streak to six and improving to a league-best 28–5. Courtney Williams led the charge with 26 points and Kayla McBride with 17 points — the latter of whom made a timely three pointer with 31 seconds to go. She also hit four straight free throws to ice the game and seal the win. The Liberty, playing without Breanna Stewart, leaned on Jonquel Jone’s 17 points and Sabrina Ionescu’s 13, but couldn’t overcome Minnesota’s fourth-quarter surge. Despite New York leading through three quarters, the Lynx’s depth and defensive execution sealed the win in front of a packed Target Center crowd.

Recap: Day 3

Day 3 mirrored Day 2 as 90% of participants earned a win. With seven (7) days remaining, most Fast Breakers only need to win five of those days to the mid-tier reward and there are a high number of participants who remain perfect. Yesterday, Courtney Williams was utilized in 80% of lineups and she came through with 26 points scored. With her performance, she earned the Fast Break Star of the Day.

On the other hand, DiJonai Carrington only scored 4 points on 1 of 5 from the field, but it was easy to overcome considering the number of high scorers. With her performance, she is your Fast Break Dud of the Day.

Today’s Matchups:

Indiana Fever (18-16) @ Connecticut Sun (6-26) | 1:00PM ET | 5:00PM UTC

The Indiana Fever visit the Connecticut Sun in a matchup that favors the visitors. Indiana has won four of its last five and continues to surge behind Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston. Connecticut, led by Tina Charles, has struggled to generate consistent offense and ranks last in the league in scoring. With playoff positioning in sight, Indiana is projected to control tempo and extend its win streak.

Los Angeles Sparks (16-17) @ Washington Mystics (15-18) | 3:00PM ET | 7:00PM UTC

At CareFirst Arena, the Los Angeles Sparks take on the Washington Mystics in a tightly contested East-West clash. L.A. enters as the favorite, riding a 7–3 stretch and Kelsey Plum’s 28-point performance against Dallas. Washington counters with Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen, but the Sparks’ offensive efficiency and road record give them the projected edge in this third meeting of the season.

Dallas Wings (9-25) @ Las Vegas Aces (20-14) | 3:30PM ET | 7:30PM UTC

Las Vegas hosts Dallas in their final regular-season meeting, with the Aces having won all three prior matchups. A’ja Wilson remains dominant, fresh off a 30-point outing against Phoenix, while Dallas rookie Paige Bueckers continues to rewrite franchise records. With Arike Ogunbowale out and Vegas surging, the Aces are projected to complete the season sweep.

Phoenix Mercury (19-13) @ Seattle Storm (17-17) | 6:00PM ET | 10:00PM UTC

Phoenix travels to Seattle in a matchup with playoff implications. The Mercury are slight favorites, led by Satou Sabally and Alyssa Thomas, while Seattle leans on Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins to defend home court. With both teams fighting for seeding, Phoenix’s recent form and scoring depth give them the projected advantage.

Atlanta Dream (21-12) @ Golden State Valkyries (18-15) | 8:30PM ET | 12:30AM UTC

In the nightcap, the Atlanta Dream visit the Golden State Valkyries at Chase Center. Atlanta enters as the favorite, with Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard driving a fast-paced offense. Golden State counters with Veronica Burton & Cecelia Zandalasini, but with Atlanta winning four of its last five and the Valkyries still adjusting to injuries, the Dream are projected to take this one on the road.

Power Rankings (Week 11):

We are down to the final month of the WNBA regular season and things are heating up in the playoff race. With the postseason tipping off September 14, the next few weeks will be a masterclass in urgency.

  • Top Seeds Locked In: Minnesota is cruising toward the No. 1 seed, while New York and Atlanta are battling for home-court advantage in the first round.
