WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 7 | Day 7
Today’s Objective(s): 30 Points in the Paint & 5 Offensive Rebounds
Overview:
Today is Day 7 of 11 and there are 114 collectors who have the chance to earn their 7th win to secure the mid-tier pack and still have a chance at the perfect pack. For everyone else, anyone with at least two wins still has a chance at the mid-tier pack.
Keep in mind with the relative low participation compared to their NBA counterparts, there is a higher probability of earning a daily reward, but you can’t win if you don’t play.
WNBA Score(s):
Dream Dominate Second Half, Drop Sky in Road Win (ATL 86, CHI 65)
Atlanta turned a six-point halftime deficit into a runaway win, outscoring Chicago 32–18 in the third quarter and cruising to an 86–65 victory at Wintrust Arena. Allisha Gray led all scorers with 25 points, while Jordin Canada added 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists in a two-way showcase. The Dream hit nine threes, including three each from Gray and Te-Hina Paopao, and Naz Hillmon grabbed 11 boards, marking back-to-back double-digit rebounding games. Chicago got 18 from Rachel Banham, but couldn’t recover after Atlanta’s third-quarter blitz. It’s the Dream’s fourth straight win—and a reminder that their perimeter depth is peaking.
Sparks Surge Past Sun Behind Allemand’s Triple-Double (LAS 102, CON 91)
Los Angeles continued its offensive tear with a 102–91 win over Connecticut, marking its eighth victory in nine games. The Sparks had six players in double figures, led by Dearica Hamby (21 points) and Rickea Jackson (20). But the night belonged to Julie Allemand, who notched her first career triple-double—10 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists—capping it with a late layup that sealed the game. Connecticut led at halftime behind Tina Charles and Marina Mabrey’s 19-point efforts, but couldn’t contain L.A.’s second-half push. Cameron Brink added 11 off the bench, and Kelsey Plum hit a dagger three late in the fourth. The Sparks shot 56.5% from the field, showing the kind of rhythm that makes them a postseason threat.
Mercury Obliterate Fever as Thomas Makes History (PHO 95, IND 60)
Phoenix dismantled Indiana 95–60 in a wire-to-wire win that showcased both dominance and history. Alyssa Thomas recorded her third straight triple-double—18 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists—becoming the first player in WNBA history to do so. DeWanna Bonner dropped a game-high 23 points against her former team, while Satou Sabally added 15 and Kahleah Copper chipped in 11. The Mercury shot 44% from three and won the turnover battle 20–13, while Indiana struggled without Caitlin Clark, who missed her ninth straight game. Sophie Cunningham led the Fever with 18 points, but the team shot just 34% overall and was outscored in every quarter. Phoenix’s third straight win sends a clear message: their depth and defensive intensity are peaking at the right time.
Recap: Day 6
Day 6 appeared to be smooth sailing on paper…but that’s the probably with paper; there are no assurances and there were only 29% of lineups who earned a win. Natasha Mack was found in 52% of lineups…and let all of them down as she accumulated no steals nor blocks, which was the objectives for the day. With their performance, she is your Fast Break Dud of the Day. On the other hand, Brionna Jones was leveraged in 38% of lineups and contributed 3 steals and 1 block, which earned her the Fast Break Star of the Day.
Today’s Matchups:
New York Liberty (19-10) vs Dallas Wings (8-22)
The New York Liberty head to College Park Center to face the Dallas Wings, looking to bounce back from a recent loss and reassert control in the East. Despite Breanna Stewart’s continued absence, New York enters as the clear favorite, backed by Sabrina Ionescu’s elite shot creation and Jonquel Jones’ interior presence. Dallas will lean on Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale to keep pace, but with the Wings struggling to close games and New York boasting superior ball movement, the Liberty are projected to take this one on the road.
Washington Mystics (13-16) vs Minnesota Lynx (25-5)
At Target Center, the Minnesota Lynx host the Washington Mystics in a matchup that tilts heavily toward the home team. Minnesota has won three of four meetings against Washington this season, and Napheesa Collier continues to anchor the league’s top defense. The Mystics will need big nights from Sonia Citron and Shakira Austin to stay competitive, but with the Lynx riding a six-game win streak and dominating on both ends, they’re expected to control the tempo and extend their lead atop the standings.
Seattle Storm (16-14) vs Las Vegas Aces (16-14)
The Las Vegas Aces welcome the Seattle Storm to Michelob ULTRA Arena in a nationally televised showdown on ION. Seattle took the last meeting, but Vegas enters as the slight favorite, with A’ja Wilson and Chelsea Gray leading a squad eager to climb back into the playoff mix. Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins will be key for Seattle, but if Vegas can dictate pace and limit second-chance opportunities, they’re projected to edge out a close one at home.

WNBA Key Dates:
September 11: Regular Season Ends
September 14-October 17: WNBA Playoffs
Power Rankings (Week 10):
There are 44 games in a WNBA Season, so teams have anywhere between 15-17 games remaining. As we are seeing with Indiana & L.A., a string of wins can change the course of the season. The other story is the string of injuries to top tier players like Breanna Stewart, Napheesa Collier, and Kayla Thornton. That’s in addition to Caitlin Clark remaining sidelined; although the Fever have found a way to win consistently without her (and look to be more dangerous when she returns).
With Stewie’s absence, the formidable Liberty look vulnerable. With only 6 wins separating ranks 2-10, any lengthy losing streaks could be devastating to a team’s playoff and championship hopes. This is even true for the Minnesota Lynx as an extended absence from Napheesa Collier could bring this team back down to the pack over the next few weeks.
As we inch closer to the playoffs, every game matters from here until the end of the season.
