WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 7 | Day 4

Today’s Objective(s): 30 Rebounds

Overview:

After a day without W games, we return to another 5-game slate. This time we hope to see more wins than we saw on Day 3. Note the recent trade deadline resulted in players shuffling as well as player signings. For instnce, DiJonai Carrington was traded from the Dallas Wings to the Minnesota Lynx.

With four days behind us this run, there are a number of Fast Breakers who remain perfect with on pace to at least earn the 7-win pack.

WNBA Score(s):

Ionescu Erupts, Liberty Snap Skid vs. Sun (NYL 87, CON 78)

New York got back on track behind Sabrina Ionescu’s 36-point, 11-rebound masterclass, ending a four-game slide with a win over Connecticut. Emma Meesseman added 11 points in her return, and the Liberty controlled the glass and tempo despite committing 22 turnovers. The Sun leaned on Tina Charles’ 17 points, but couldn’t contain Ionescu’s shot-making or New York’s interior finishing. For the Liberty, it’s a reset win—and a reminder that their ceiling still hinges on star power.

Fever Hold Off Storm for Fifth Straight Win (IND 78, SEA 74)

Indiana extended its streak to five with a gritty road win in Seattle, powered by Natasha Howard’s 21 points and Aliyah Boston’s sixth straight double-double. Sophie Cunningham chipped in 17 points, and Aari McDonald dished a season-high 9 assists. The Storm pulled within one in the final seconds, but clutch plays from Kelsey Mitchell and Boston sealed the deal. For the Fever, it’s their longest win streak in a decade—and a signal that their depth is peaking at the right time.

Aces Outlast Valkyries in Wild Finish (LVA 89, GSV 85)

Las Vegas held off Golden State in a back-and-forth battle, escaping with a win at home. A’ja Wilson led the way with 26 points, while the Valkyries got a strong outing from Temi Fagbenle, who kept the game close with timely buckets. The Aces leaned on late-game execution and perimeter defense to close it out, snapping Golden State’s three-game win streak. For Vegas, it’s a bounce-back win that keeps them in the playoff hunt

Dream Dominate Mystics in Wire-to-Wire Win (ATL 91, WAS 72)

Atlanta controlled every quarter en route to a win over Washington, riding Allisha Gray’s 22 points and Naz Hillmon’s interior presence. The Mystics struggled to generate offense, and the Dream’s perimeter shooting and rebounding edge kept them chasing. For Atlanta, it’s a third straight win—and a reminder that their defensive identity travels.

Sky Fall Late as Mercury Close Strong (PHO 84, CHI 78)

Phoenix rallied in the fourth to edge Chicago 84–78, behind Kahleah Copper’s 25 points and Brittney Griner’s steady interior play. The Sky, still short-handed, leaned on Kamilla Cardoso’s double-double, but couldn’t contain the Mercury’s late surge. Phoenix outscored Chicago 24–17 in the final frame, sealing a win that steadies their playoff footing.

Recap: Day 3

Day 3 was the worst day of this series as only 29% of participants earned a win on a day where field goals and three pointers were needed. With only three field goals made and a single three pointer, Marina Mabrey earned the Fast Break Dud of the Day award as she let down the 36% of lineups who started her. On the other hand, Sabrina Ionescu contributed 14 field goals and a single three pointer, which earned her the Fast Break Star of the Day.

Today’s Matchups:

Dallas Wings (8-21) vs New York Liberty (18-10)

The New York Liberty host the Dallas Wings at Barclays Center, looking to avenge their July 29 loss. Despite Breanna Stewart’s absence, New York remains the favorite, riding Sabrina Ionescu’s 36-point outburst and a 12–3 home record. Dallas counters with Paige Bueckers, fresh off her third straight 20-point game, and Arike Ogunbowale’s playmaking. With both teams trading wins recently, expect New York’s perimeter shooting and home-court edge to carry them through.

Washington Mystics (13-15) vs Chicago Sky (7-21)

Washington visits the Chicago Sky in a matchup that favors the Mystics, who’ve shown steadier form and stronger defensive metrics. Brittney Sykes and Sonia Citron headline Washington’s attack, while Chicago leans on Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso to control the paint. With the Sky on a three-game skid and Washington pushing for playoff positioning, the Mystics are projected to pull away late

Indiana Fever (17-12) vs Los Angeles Sparks (12-15)

Indiana travels to Crypto.com Arena to face the Sparks, aiming for a fourth straight road win. Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston lead a Fever squad averaging 89.3 points over their last ten games, while L.A. counters with Dearica Hamby and Kelsey Plum’s scoring punch. The Sparks won their last meeting by two, but Indiana’s recent surge and perimeter efficiency make them slight favorites in this rematch

Connecticut Sun (5-22) vs Phoenix Mercury (17-11)

Connecticut heads to Phoenix in a game that tilts heavily toward the Mercury. Alyssa Thomas and Kahleah Copper anchor Phoenix’s attack, while Tina Charles continues her milestone march for the Sun. With Connecticut struggling to close games and Phoenix boasting superior depth, the Mercury are expected to control tempo and secure the win.

Minnesota Lynx (24-5) vs Seattle Storm (16-13)

Minnesota visits Seattle in a marquee Western Conference showdown. The Lynx, will likely be without Napheesa Collier who sustained an ankle injury in their previous game. Instead, they’ll be led by Kayla McBride, who enter as favorites thanks to their league-best defense and recent dominance. Seattle counters with Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins, who look to snap their recent losing streak.

Today’s Objective(s): Day 4

You’ll need five (5) players who will gather 30.0 or more rebounds, which means each player will need to average 6.0 REB.

There is a single objective today and a five game slate, so your options are quite broad. There will be one more day where there are ten teams in action, so you have plenty of flexibility to tinker with lineups, but be mindful of recent injuries and adjust your lineups as necessary. An extensive collection means you have more wiggle room also, but a limited collection still has the capability of being successful in Fast Break.

Top Player Options:

  • Glass Crashers: Jonquel Jones, Aliyah Boston, Kamilla Cardoso, Kiki Iriafen, Alyssa Thomas, Azura Stevens, Dearica Hamby

WNBA Fast Break Grid

It's essential to consider the opponents, recent performance, and any injury updates before finalizing your Fast Break lineup. Additionally, staying up to date on the latest news and adjusting your roster accordingly will enhance your chances of earning a win today.

WNBA Key Dates:

  • September 11: Regular Season Ends

  • September 14-October 17: WNBA Playoffs

Power Rankings (Week 10):

There are 44 games in a WNBA Season, so teams have anywhere between 15-17 games remaining. As we are seeing with Indiana & L.A., a string of wins can change the course of the season. The other story is the string of injuries to top tier players like Breanna Stewart, Napheesa Collier, and Kayla Thornton. That’s in addition to Caitlin Clark remaining sidelined; although the Fever have found a way to win consistently without her (and look to be more dangerous when she returns).

With Stewie’s absence, the formidable Liberty look vulnerable. With only 6 wins separating ranks 2-10, any lengthy losing streaks could be devastating to a team’s playoff and championship hopes. This is even true for the Minnesota Lynx as an extended absence from Napheesa Collier could bring this team back down to the pack over the next few weeks.

As we inch closer to the playoffs, every game matters from here until the end of the season.
