WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 5 | Day 4
Today’s Objective(s): 20 Field Goals Made & 30 Field Goal Attempts
Recap & Overview:
Lynx Stay Sharp, Handle Sparks on the Road (Lynx 91, Sparks 82)
Minnesota continues to operate like a team with postseason clarity. The Lynx took care of business in L.A., riding a balanced attack and late-game execution to a 91–82 win. Natisha Hiedeman came off the bench firing, dropping 18 points, while Napheesa Collier added 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists—another all-around gem in her MVP campaign. The Sparks showed flashes, but Minnesota’s tempo control and defensive rotations kept them chasing. At 18–3, the Lynx aren’t just winning—they’re dictating terms.
Mystics Grind Past Aces in Defensive Duel (Mystics 70, Aces 68)
Washington leaned into grit and came out with a win. In a game where every possession felt magnified, the Mystics edged Las Vegas 70–68 at EagleBank Arena. The Aces were without A’ja Wilson again and her absence likely tipped the scales as Las Vegas could not crack Washington’s defensive shell late. The Mystics made timely stops and converted just enough on the other end to hold off a final Vegas push. For a team hovering around .500, this was a tone-setter—and a reminder that defense still travels. It was also a marquee win on a season that was supposed to be a throw away. Instead, the Mystics are not only looking to make the postseason, but to make some noise while they’re there.
Fast Break Day 3 Recap
Day 3 needed a mix of field goals made and attempted and virtually all participants walked away victorious as 97% earned a win. Napheesa Collier was utilized by 68% of collectors and she contributed 8 field goals out of 19 attempts, so she covered 40% and 63% of the needed objectives. With her performance, she earned the Fast Break Star of the Day award. Of the other four most utilized players, none fell below the required threshold, so there were no Duds on the Day.
Today’s Matchups
Fever vs. Dream: Tonight’s matchup at Gainbridge Fieldhouse pits the Indiana Fever (9–10) against the Atlanta Dream (12–7). Although Indiana has lost two straight games, they come into this matchup as the slight favorite due to their play on home court and are likely energized by the looming All-Star festivities hosted in their home arena. Caitlin Clark’s playmaking and Kelsey Mitchell’s scoring punch will be key against Atlanta’s dynamic backcourt led by Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray. With the Fever slightly below .500 whereas the Dream have a stronger win percentage, expect both teams to push the tempo with the hopes of walking away with a win.
Storm vs. Sun: The Seattle Storm (12–8) host the Connecticut Sun (3–16) in what projects as a one-sided affair. Seattle boasts a 90.8% win probability and is coming off a tough loss to the Sun just two days ago, making this a revenge spot. Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins will look to impose their will early, while Connecticut leans heavily on Tina Charles, fresh off a 29-point outing. The Sun’s road woes (1–9 away) and defensive lapses make Seattle the clear favorite, and unless Charles replicates her heroics, the Storm should cruise to a bounce-back win.
