WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 4 | Day 11
Today’s Objective(s): 20 Field Goals Made & 30 Field Goal Attempts
Recap & Overview:
Storm Clamp Down, Sweep Liberty in Statement Win (Storm 79, Liberty 70)
Seattle didn’t just beat New York—they suffocated them. A third-quarter defensive masterclass held the Liberty to just 6 points, flipping a tight game into a Storm-controlled grind. It was a balanced attack on the Seattle side as five players were in double figures including rookie Dominique Malonga who had 11 points, but it was Seattle’s collective discipline that stole the show. This was New York’s third loss in four games and they showed their vulnerability without Jonquel Jones.
Aces Roll, Sun Skid Hits Double Digits (Aces 86, Sun 68)
Las Vegas looked like Las Vegas again. A’ja Wilson was surgical—19 points on 8-of-10 shooting, 4 blocks, and a reminder that she’s still the league’s most efficient force. Chelsea Gray added a milestone moment, climbing to sixth on the WNBA’s all-time assist list. Connecticut, meanwhile, dropped its 10th straight, unable to generate rhythm or resistance. The Aces didn’t just win—they recalibrated. Although they are back .500, they’re eyeing a second-half surge.
Lynx Rally Late, Stay Unbeaten at Home (Lynx 80, Sky 75)
The Sky came out swinging—up 14 after the first quarter—but Minnesota never blinked. The Lynx countered in the second frame, outscoring Chicago 28–13. Courtney Williams was everywhere: a dagger three, 7 assists, and the tempo control Minnesota needed. Napheesa Collier added 18 and 8, continuing her MVP-level campaign. Angel Reese (double-double) kept Chicago close, but the Lynx’s late-game execution was the separator.
Fast Break Recap: Thin Margin of Victory
As to be expected, it was not a pleasant day for Fast Break as only 39 total collectors (2%) earned a win yesterday. Of the top five players utilized, Sabrina Ionescu and Gabby Williams reached the minimum 3.0 AST-TO threshold for the day. The remaining four had one or two, which wasn’t enough to overcome an already challenging objective. If you had Chelsea Gray, Jackie Young, and/or Kayla McBride in your lineup, they would have bolstered your overall score, but you would have needed at least two of them to earn a win on the day.
Two Games on Today’s Slate
Today’s schedule includes two games where two underdogs with some bite look to notch another big win on their belts:
Golden State heads to Atlanta and will face the Dream for the first time this season. Although they lost their previous game in Minnesota, they’ve won 2 of their past 3 games. Atlanta, on the other hand, have lost 3 of 4 and look to get back to their winning ways against the expansion team.
Dallas and Phoenix meet again, this time in the dessert. The Wings won their last meeting 98-89 and look to continue their mid-season turnaround behind the leading Rookie of the Year candidate, Paige Bueckers. The Mercury, however, are out for revenge while avoiding their third straight loss.
