WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 3 | Day 7
Today’s Objective(s): 45 Points Scored
Recap & Overview:
Minnesota Secures Commissioner’s Cup Final Spot
Despite missing Kelsey Plum and A’ja Wilson, the Las Vegas Aces jumped out to an early lead against Minnesota, thanks to Napheesa Collier leaving the game early with a back injury. By halftime, the Aces had built a double-digit lead, putting the Lynx’s Commissioner’s Cup Final hopes in serious jeopardy.
But Minnesota stormed back in the third quarter, erasing the deficit entirely. By the final buzzer, they had flipped the script, winning comfortably 76–62, officially clinching their spot in the July 1st in-season tournament finale.
New York Rallies, Atlanta’s Bid Falls Short
The key battle of the night took place between Atlanta and New York, with the Dream in control of their own fate. A win would send them to the Commissioner’s Cup Final; a loss would eliminate them entirely.
New York needed both a win and an Indiana loss to keep their own Cup chances alive. With three quarters played, Atlanta was in position to take the spot, leading by eight entering the fourth. But the Dream went ice-cold in the final frame, managing just 10 points, allowing New York to storm back for the victory.
Atlanta’s collapse opened the door for Indiana to seal its fate.
Indiana Handles Business, Clinches Final Spot
With Atlanta out of the picture, Indiana needed to finish the job against Connecticut to lock up their Commissioner’s Cup Final berth. Clark, Mitchell, Howard, and Dantas all put up double-digit scoring nights, comfortably dispatching the Sun 88–71.
The game didn’t end quietly—a heated scuffle led to ejections for Cunningham, Sheldon, and Allen. Cunningham delivered a hard flagrant foul on Sheldon, escalating tensions that had already boiled over earlier when Sheldon and Caitlin Clark got into an exchange, followed by Marina Mabrey shoving Clark.
With the victory, Indiana officially joins Minnesota in the Cup Final showdown on July 1st.
Other Matchups: Washington, Dallas, Seattle Take Care of Business
Elsewhere in the league:
Washington crushed Chicago’s hopes of back-to-back wins, dominating the second half and winning by 19.
Dallas secured just their second win of the season, upsetting Golden State in a much-needed positive result.
Seattle rolled past Los Angeles, winning 98–67 in a wire-to-wire performance.
Fast Break Recap: Defensive Challenge Lowers Win Rate
Fast Break Day 6 presented one of the toughest challenges yet—offensive rebounds and blocks—resulting in just a 41% win rate, the lowest of this run.
Ezi Magbegor dominated defensively, rejecting six shots, making her the Fast Break Star of the Day. Dearica Hamby struggled, securing just one offensive rebound, leading to frustration for 38% of collectors who rostered her. Though her offense wasn’t poor, her lack of stat contributions earned her Fast Break Dud of the Day honors.
Fast Break Preview: One Game, One Goal—Points
Tonight’s Fast Break challenge is straightforward—score enough points to win. With just one game on the slate, selections will be limited, but opportunities remain to stay in the running for a perfect 11-0 streak.
Let’s dive into projections and identify the best scoring options to keep your win streak alive.
Today’s Objective(s):
WNBA Fast Break Day 7 requires five (5) players who will score 45.0 or more points, which means each player will need to average 9.0 PTS. With only two (2) teams will be in action today, your player options are limited. Fortunately, points scored is the only objective on the day and the required threshold is lower than it typically is for points. As each player only needs to contribute 9.0 points, you can utilize players further down the list. Additionally, Kahleah Copper makes her debut this season and is primed to be a great option midway through this run.
