NBA Fast Break Classic | Conference Semifinals | Day 8

Today’s Objective(s): 30 Points in the Paint & 5 Offensive Rebounds

Recap & Overview:

Aside from Game 2, where Oklahoma City dominated Denver, every game in this series has been a down-to-the-wire battle. Game 4 was no different, as the Thunder rallied from a third-quarter deficit to even the series. Now, both teams head back to Oklahoma City, looking to secure a crucial third win and set up a potential Game 6 clincher in Denver.

Meanwhile, Indiana-Cleveland was anything but close. The Pacers exploded for an NBA Playoff record 80 points in the first half, building a 41-point lead at the break. By the third quarter’s two-minute mark, Indiana still led by 30+ points, leaving the fourth quarter to the reserves. Game 5 is tomorrow in Cleveland, where Indiana aims to become the first team to close out their opponent in the conference semifinals.

As it pertains to Fast Break, yesterday’s Fast Break objective focused on field goals made and attempts. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the fifth-most utilized player, delivered as expected as he contributed 8 of 19 field goals, earning the Fast Break Stud of the Day award. Darius Garland, despite playing just 27 minutes, also had a decent contribution of 6 of 11 field goals, benefitting 48% of Fast Break participants. On the other hand, Evan Mobley struggled, making just 3 of 7 field goals, earning the Fast Break Dud of the Day. Donovan Mitchell didn’t fare much better, though he had four more attempts.

Tonight, Minnesota looks to take a 3-1 series lead against a Warriors squad still missing Steph Curry. Jimmy Butler and Jonathan Kuminga kept Golden State competitive last game, but they’ll need another big performance—plus contributions from others—to keep their season alive.

In the early game, Boston aims to even the series on the road. The Celtics live and die by the three, meaning New York’s perimeter defense will be key to limiting their attack. If Boston shoots the ball like they did in Game 3, the Knicks could be in trouble. But if New York contains the Celtics from deep, they’ll have a strong chance to go up 3-1.

In both matchups, expect high-intensity basketball. Will we see another Mikal Bridges clutch defensive stop? Or another Anthony Edwards poster-worthy dunk? With pivotal Game 4s in both series, we should be in for a competitive treat.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 8 requires five (5) players who will score 30.0 or more points in the paint and gather 5.0 or more offensive rebounds, which means each player will need to average at least 6.0 PITP & 1.0 OREB per player. There are four (4) teams in action today, so you have a decent array of players to choose from, but availability is dependent upon your collection and usage this run. With today’s objectives, though, you have more options than most nights.
