NBA Fast Break Classic | Conference Semifinals | Day 1

Today’s Objective(s): 100 Points Scored

Overview:

New run means fresh start for all Fast Breakers. The same cannot be said for the 8 teams who were eliminated from the NBA Playoffs including the 2-seed Houston Rockets. This marks the 7th time in NBA History where a 7-seed knocked out a 2-seed in the first round. The last being the 2022-2023 Los Angeles Lakers, who beat the Memphis Grizzlies in six games. After the first round of the NBA Playoffs, the NBA Top Shot Bracket Challenge is already down to 25 collectors who guessed all outcomes correctly including upsets by the Minnesota Timberwolves (over the Lakers) and Golden State Warriors (over the Rockets).

This also marks the end of the first round of NBA Top Shot Playoff Series, which deviates from the path paved in prior years including the more broad usage of Ultimate moments. There are mixed opinions on whether this is a good or bad thing, but if you have not had a chance to read about their rationale and thinking behind this change, it is worth reading the NBA Top Shot blog.

The Conference Semifinals will undoubtedly reveal clutch performances, buzzer beaters, incredible stat lines, and memorable moments that may or may not become a digital collectible. It also means two less days than the previous run and eight (8) less teams who are in action. Collections will be more strained depending on the outcome of each series, so put forth your best effort each night with the consideration that matchups that run longer will mean you’ll need players from those teams down the line. Today, you’ll need points for classic and assists for pro mode. If you aren’t already participating in the WNBA Fast Break series, that is another opportunity to put your collection to work. If you’re unfamiliar with the W, be sure to read the WNBA Article for a preview along with players you’ll want in your collection for Fast Break.

First NBA game tips off at 7:00PM ET | 11:00PM UTC today, so set your lineup beforehand.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 1 requires five (5) players who will score 100.0 or more points, which means each player will need to average at least 20.0 PTS per player. There are four (4) teams in action today, which includes Game 1 of the BOS-NYK & DEN-OKC series. It’s a fresh series, so your options are wide open. As was the case last series (albeit more limited), the outcome of each series will dictate which players are available at the tail end of this run.

  • Scorers: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jayson Tatum, Nikola Jokic, Jalen Brunson, Jalen Williams, Jamal Murray, Jaylen Brown

  • Top Five (5) Players in Classic Lineups: J. Brunson (50%), J. Williams (38%), O. Anunoby (35%), D. White (32%), C. Braun (31%)

NBA Playoffs:

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow: 35.0 Rebounds (7.0 REB per player)

  • Objectives Frequency (after today):

    • 3x: PITP, AST

    • 2x: STL, REB, 3PM, 3PA, PTS

    • 1x: FGM, FGA, OREB, BLK

Considerations:

  • Unless Indiana sweeps the Cavaliers, they will play four (4) games this series (max six (6))

  • Day 4 (May 8th) only has one (1) game scheduled

  • Day 9 (May 13th) is the first Game 5, if necessary, which means any sweeps would hinder the availability of players

  • Minnesota & Golden State will play a maximum of six (6) games during this run

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected Points Scored according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, playoff average, and rest of playoffs projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-playoffs stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Tome Collective’s Fast Break NBA Playoffs Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

New series means our lineup options reset. Like the last run, we’ll inevitably run out of players toward the end of the series, but the primary objective is seven (7) wins.
