NBA Fast Break Run 12 | Day 5

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 40 Field Goals Made to earn your win.

Recap & Overview:

If you’re a March Madness fan, the first two days are easily the most exciting and hectic as brackets are busted left and right. Yesterday was no different as there are only 121 perfect brackets remaining on ESPN (out of 24.3 million). Similarly, the number of NBA Fast Break perfect records shrank by almost half yesterday as only 59% exceeded the always challenging 125 points day.

In total, there were fifteen (15) players who scored at least 25 points, but only seven (7) were included in lineups. The most notable was Kevin Durant (66%) who scored 40+ for the 72nd time in his career which carried many lineups to a win, so he is your clear Fast Break Stud of the Day. Of the remaining four most utilized players, Anthony Edwards (83%) & Devin Booker (50%) were the only two who scored below 20 points, which likely dragged down many lineups. For that reason, they are your Fast Break co-Duds of the Day.

As there are only five games today, your options are quite limited based on availability and by projections. If you’re participating in the Pro mode, your options are limited further based on Metallic Gold LE rare moments. If you’re a tome+ subscriber, we’ve filtered the data to only include players who have an MGLE moment and have added their current low ask in case you need to pick up a low cost option to fill out your lineup. As these daily limiters may very well be the new norm, the value of MGLE moments are slowly rising. Whether you’re participating in Classic or Pro, let’s dive into the data to maximize your lineups.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 5 requires five (5) players who will make 40.0 or more field goals, which means your lineup will need to average a lofty 8.0 FGM per player. Three straight sunny days followed by five straight stormy days, which will have a meaningful impact on the final standings. Today marks the second day of likely choppy waters due to the high threshold. If you’re not starting reliable starters, you’re setting yourself up for likely failure - especially considering there are only 10 teams in action today. But there are no guarantees to Fast Break, so be sure to check the injury reports to ensure you have a healthy lineup who avoids the poor shooting days. Giannis, for example, is a must start - if he’s healthy.

  • Bucket Getters: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, LeBron James, Karl-Anthony Towns, Zach LaVine

  • Top Five (5) Players in Classic Lineups: D. DeRozan (84%), G. Antetokounmpo (75%), K. Towns (57%), P. Siakam (57%), Z. LaVine (41%)

  • Pro Mode Limitations: Metallic Gold LE

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, 50 REB will be the single objective; 16 teams in action

  • Objectives frequency (after today):

    • 3x: PIP

    • 2x: AST, BLK, OREB

    • 1x: FGA, 3PM, 3PA, PTS, FGM

Considerations:

  • Memphis & Milwaukee have the least number of games remaining (3)

  • Twelve (12) teams have the most number of games remaining (5)

  • Washington is playing the tail-end game of a back-to-back today

  • Day 5 (today) has the least number of teams in action (10 or less), so your lineup options will be more limited on these days

  • Denver & Utah last game this run lands on Day 11

  • 6 of 9 days this run will have a single objective (or resembles a single objective)

  • Assists minus turnovers & +/- are not included as objectives continue to be MIA; Steals is not included this run either

  • Pro mode has a different limitation each day; it also has different objectives compared to Classic

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected field goals made according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Run 12 Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Swapped in Jalen Green for Zion…who subsequently scored single digits - breaking his 5-game streak of 20+ points. Ant and Book did not fare much better, as both scored below 20 points also. That means we can only spare one more loss over the next nine days for a chance at the 11-win reward. Shake it off - onward to Day 5.
