NBA Fast Break Run 9 | Day 13

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 15 Three Pointers Made and 25 Three Point Attempts to earn your win.

Recap & Overview:

As is the case with every Fast Break series, the number of winners dwindles as the days progress - more so during longer runs as collections are stretched thin. Layer on top of that the high number of injuries, late scratches, minute restrictions, etc., and you’re left with chaos on many days - especially if it’s a player who is a top five option. With that said, only 40% of Fast Breakers earned a win on Day 12 which did not include our one remaining perfect record.

Tyrese Maxey had averaged 33.9 the last 10 games…and he produced 5. If you had him in your lineup, you had a sizeable mountain to climb to reach the win. He wasn’t one of the top five players utilized so he doesn’t qualify for the Dud of the Day. That honor goes to Devin Booker who had a 17 point night even though he’s averaged over 29 in his last 10 games. Jaren Jackson also had 17 points, but also contributed 2 steals. On the other end of the spectrum, KAT had the highest scoring output of the night with 40 points and 3 steals and earned the coveted Fast Break Stud of the Day Award.

Although we do not have any 12-win participants, we do have five 11-win Fast Breakers remaining which likely sets up a chaotic dash to the finish. If you have 10-wins, you still have a chance at the top prize if all five 11-win teams falter. Once we reach the end of this run, there will be no NBA games until Wednesday, February 19th. That’s time to take a breather, reset, pick up some players to round out your Fast Break flexibility, and get ready for the second half of this season and toward the NBA Playoffs. Also keep in mind the WNBA Season tips off in May, so be sure to gauge your player options. If you’re a tome+ subscriber, you have a new resource to see WNBA players, rankings based on projections & 2024 season results, and current values.

Before we get too far ahead of ourselves though, let’s dive into today’s objectives to earn another win.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 13 requires five (5) players who will make 15.0 three pointers and take 25.0 three pointers, which means your lineup will need to average 3.0 3PM & 5.0 3PA per player. You can’t make shots if you don’t take them, so the second objective is more a formality than hindrance. Your goal today is reach the 15.0 three pointers made to earn your win.

  • Clinical from Outside: Stephen Curry, Anthony Edwards, Trey Murphy, Malik Beasley, Donovan Mitchell

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: D. Mitchell (36%), S. Curry (34%), J. Poole (32%), T. Young (31%), J. Tatum (29%)

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, 20 rebounds and 20 assists will be the double objective; all 10 teams will be in action

Considerations:

  • Dallas, Golden State, Houston, LA Clippers, Miami, Minnesota, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Sacramento, and Utah will play on both Day 13 & 14

  • Chicago, Detroit, Indiana, Memphis, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Toronto are playing the tail-end of back-to-back games

  • 1 of 2 remaining days this run will have a single objective (or resembles a single objective)

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected three pointers made & three point attempts according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Run 9 Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Barely crossed the threshold with 104 points scored out of the 100 needed. Whew. Two days to go and two wins needed to earn the 11-win reward. Ant was originally picked for Day 11, but we are now using him on Day 13…so long as he’s available. If he’s not, Donovan Mitchell will be subbed in.
