NBA Fast Break Run 7 | Day 11

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 15 Three Pointers Made and 25 Three Point Attempts to earn your win.

Recap & Overview:

Going into Wednesday’s 11-game slate, Boston sat 2nd in the East with a 28-11 record and were playing a 9-31 Raptors team who sat 14th in the East. On a day where Field Goals Made were the primary objective, it made natural sense why Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum were two of the most utilized players. I think you know can tell where this is going - the Fast Break curse struck both JB and JT as they delivered 4 FGM & 5FGM respectively. If you played one of them, it likely stung but with a glimmer of hope depending on who else you played. If you played both, you pretty much sunk. Considering only 25% of Fast Break participants ended the day with a win, one or both of these Fast Break co-Duds of the Day likely contributed. Both LaMelo & Giannis contributed 11 FGM as they were two of the five most utilized players, so they are your Fast Break co-Studs of the Day. Honorable mentions go to Brunson (14 FGM) who battled Maxey (13 FGM) & the Sixers and won in overtime.

Like yesterday, there are two objectives today but it feels more like a single objective. Similar to yesterday, you will have little room for error to earn a win with today’s objective. The attempts are more a formality than hurdle, so your primary focus is curating a lineup who will make at least 15 three pointers - easier said than done considering there are only 10 teams in action.

The number of perfect records were cut by almost half as we are down to 52 (from 95 yesterday) which opens the door for any 1-loss Fast Breakers to sneak into the top 25 for a run-based reward. With four (4) days remaining in this run and with today’s challenging objective, anticipate the perfection to decrease further while the number of overall participants steadily rise (8,500+ so far). In order to reach the 11-win mark, you need at least 7 wins so far. With that in mind, let’s dive into today’s objectives.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 11 requires five (5) players who will make 15.0 or more three pointers and accumulate 25.0 or more three point attempts, which means your lineup will need to average 3.0 3PM & 5.0 3PA per player. Of the players in action, only seven (7) teams are projected the exceed the 3.0 3PM threshold needed per player to reach the 15.0 target.

  • Snipers: Anfernee Simons, Donovan Mitchell, Jordan Poole (see table for top 10)

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: D. Mitchell (83%), M. Beasley (72%), N. Powell (57%), J. Poole (55%), A. Simons (55%)

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, 50 rebounds will be the single objective; there are 18 teams in action

  • Objectives Breakdown (after today): PTS, REB, AST, 3PM

Considerations:

  • Nine (9) teams have the least number of games remaining (1)

  • Portland & Washington have the most number of games remaining (3)

  • Houston & the LA Clippers are playing the tail end of a back-to-back

  • After today, 2 of the 3 remaining days have a single objective & 1 of 3 have two objectives

  • Charlotte, Dallas, Memphis, New Orleans, New York, Toronto, and Utah’s last game this run is on Day 12 (tomorrow)

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected three pointers made & three point attempts according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Remember at the beginning on this post you read about Fast Breakers who played both JB & JT and were likely sunk? That’s me. I’m in that mix. With yesterday’s loss, we are officially out of the running for our stretch goal but we a single win away from earning the mid tier reward which was the primary goal given the limitation to commons. If we can avoid a losing streak to end this series, that would be ideal. Day 11 is going to be dicey and I feel more confident about Day 12 or 13.
