NBA Fast Break Classic | Run 3 | Day 8

Doncic Leads Lakers, Thunder Surge, Johnson’s Breakout Headlines the Night

NBA Recap: November 23, 2025

The Lakers escaped Utah 108–106, Luka Doncic pouring in 33 points while LeBron James steadied the finish. Oklahoma City continued its blistering start with a 122–95 dismantling of Portland, a win that reinforced their machine-like dominance atop the West. Boston outlasted Orlando in a 138–129 shootout, Cleveland protected home court 120–105 against the Clippers, and Toronto extended its climb with a 119–109 victory over Brooklyn. Phoenix closed strong to beat San Antonio 111–102, while Miami edged Philadelphia 127–117 in a clash of Eastern contenders—Tyrese Maxey’s 27 and Norman Powell’s 32 setting the tone, but the Heat ultimately claiming the win.

In Atlanta, Jalen Johnson authored a career-defining performance: 28 points, 11 assists, and 8 rebounds, becoming the first Hawk ever to record 25+ points, 10+ assists, 5+ rebounds, and zero turnovers in a single game. His relentless drives and confident perimeter shooting carried Atlanta to a 113–110 victory over Charlotte, a reminder of how quickly young talent can reshape a franchise’s trajectory. Across the slate, the Raptors’ rise, the Cavaliers’ consistency, and the Thunder’s dominance underscored the crowded race for positioning.

Taken together, November’s rhythm reflects the NBA’s evolving state: stars anchoring, young cores rising, and margins razor-thin. Doncic’s brilliance, Johnson’s breakout, and the Thunder’s surge remind us that unpredictability isn’t a wrinkle in the season—it’s the league’s identity this year (along with persistent injuries).

NBA Fast Break Recap: Day 7

Fast Break Day 7 was a mixed bag, but fell within a range of results. Classic saw 67% earn a win compared to 41% in Pro and 55% in Historic. Out of the top five players utilized in Classic, all made at least 9 field goals, which helped most lineups cross the threshold.

For those who started Jaylen Brown, he delivered 14 FGM out of 26 FGA and outpaced every other player in the top five. With his performance, he earned the Fast Break Stud of the Day. On the other hand, there were no results that dragged the overall score down, so no Duds were present on the day.

Today’s Fast Break Objective(s): Day 8 of 13

Objective(s): 50 Points in the Paint & 12 Offensive Rebounds (10.0 PITP & 2.4 OREB)

You’ll need five (5) players who will score 50 or more points in the paint and accumulate 12 or more offensive rebounds, which means each player will need to average 10.0 PITP & 2.4 OREB). Both of these objectives occur on the offensive end of the court and there are a number of players who can deliver in both areas. Alternatively, there are players who excel in one category over the other, so you have options in setting your lineups.

Top Player Options:

  • Little of Both: Alperen Sengun, Nikola Jokic, Evan Mobley

  • Inside Scorers: Nikola Jokic, Zion Williamson, Alperen Sengun, Cade Cunningham, Amen Thompson, Pascal Siakam

  • (Offensive) Glass Crashers: Karl-Anthony Towns, Steven Adams, Jalen Duren, Alperen Sengun, Rudy Gobert, Mitchell Robinson, Zach Edey

  • Top Five (5) Players in Classic Lineups: A. Sengun (85%) | N. Jokic (52%) | J. Duren (45%) | Z. Williamson (45%) | J. Randle (29%)

Upcoming Fast Break Objectives:

  • Objectives remaining (after today): AST-TO, AST, 3PM, 3PA, REB, PTS, BLK

  • Tomorrow’s Objective(s): 40 Assists (8.0 AST)

Considerations:

  • Orlando & Washington has the fewest remaining games (2)

  • Ten (10) teams have the most remaining games (4)

  • The always challenging AST-TO objective lands on Day 10

  • Day 9 (tomorrow) only has six teams in action, which means the least flexibility

  • Day 8 (today) & 11 have more than 20 teams in action, which means the most flexibility

  • There are no games scheduled on November 27th

Statistical Approach:

Top players in points in the paint & offensive rebounds according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 average, and season averages, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ members, all active player stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Witty’s Fast Break Challenge:

In NBA Fast Break, how often you can use a player depends on the value of their moments—measured by average sale price. That system can put newer and/or smaller collectors at a disadvantage, limiting their ability to compete. This segment is designed to level the playing field, giving resourceful collectors a shot at rewards and proving that smart strategy can still win, even without a stacked collection.
