NBA Fast Break Classic | Run 10 | Day 12

Cavs Grind One Out, Bulls Snap Skid, Pistons Stay Steady

NBA Recap: March 1, 2026

Spurs 89, Knicks 114

New York didn’t just win — they imposed their identity from the opening tip. The Knicks’ depth showed up in full force, with Mikal Bridges’ 25 setting the tone and Karl‑Anthony Towns vacuuming 14 rebounds to erase second‑chance opportunities. Wembanyama was spectacular in defeat — 25 points, 13 boards, 4 blocks — but San Antonio’s supporting cast never matched his energy. The Knicks’ ability to flatten opposing runs and control tempo continues to be one of their defining strengths this season.

Cavaliers 106, Nets 102

Brooklyn punched above their record early, taking a six‑point halftime lead and entering the fourth up one. But Cleveland’s experience showed late. The Cavs methodically tightened their defense, forced the Nets into tougher looks, and leaned on a starting five that all reached double figures. This was a “good teams win ugly” night — the kind of grind‑it‑out performance that keeps Cleveland in the thick of the East’s upper tier.

Bucks 97, Bulls 120

Chicago authored one of the most dramatic turnarounds of the season. Down 15 at halftime and staring at a 12‑game losing streak, the Bulls erupted in the third quarter and completely flipped the game. Milwaukee’s collapse — an 8‑point fourth quarter — was as shocking as Chicago’s surge. Even though the Bulls are likely to be lottery‑bound, this was the kind of emotional release win that resets a locker room.

Timberwolves 117, Nuggets 108

Minnesota showed resilience, turning a nine‑point first‑quarter deficit into an eight‑point halftime lead they never surrendered. Anthony Edwards (21 points) and Rudy Gobert (15 rebounds) anchored the effort, while Bones Hyland’s 18 points in 15 minutes gave the Wolves a crucial scoring jolt. Jokić was brilliant — 35 points, 13 rebounds, 9 assists — but Denver’s defensive lapses in the second quarter proved costly. Minnesota’s depth and physicality continue to be their competitive edge.

Grizzlies 125, Pacers 106

Memphis delivered one of their cleanest team performances of the season, with seven players in double figures and none over 20 — a true “everyone eats” night. Taylor Hendricks’ 19 off the bench highlighted the Grizzlies’ growing young core. Indiana, still without Pascal Siakam, leaned on Jarace Walker’s 21, but the lack of defensive resistance made this another step in a season that’s drifting toward development mode.

Pistons 106, Magic 92

Detroit continues to look every bit like the East’s top seed. Cade Cunningham (29 points, 11 assists) orchestrated the offense with total command, and Jalen Duren (16 points, 10 rebounds) controlled the interior. Orlando got a strong night from Paolo Banchero (24 points, 11 rebounds), but their bench production was nearly nonexistent. Detroit’s consistency — especially defensively — is their competitive advantage in a tightening Eastern Conference standings.

Trail Blazers 101, Hawks 135

Atlanta delivered the day’s most lopsided result — a 34‑point demolition that showcased their ceiling when everything clicks. Onyeka Okongwu (25 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists) was everywhere, dominating both ends. Portland’s bright spot was Donovan Clingan’s 15‑point, 15‑rebound double‑double, but the Blazers were overwhelmed by Atlanta’s pace, spacing, and shotmaking.

Thunder 100, Mavericks 87

Oklahoma City handled business on the road behind Shai Gilgeous‑Alexander’s 30, maintaining their position atop the West. The Thunder controlled the game’s rhythm, never letting Dallas — still without Cooper Flagg and Anthony Davis — build any real momentum. Only three Mavericks reached double figures, none above 18, underscoring how thin their scoring options have become.

76ers 98, Celtics 114

After three razor‑thin matchups earlier in the season where they separated by just four points, Boston finally created separation. The Celtics led by 12 at halftime and never looked back. Jaylen Brown and Neemias Queta each scored 27, and Nikola Vučević added a double‑double off the bench, giving Boston a night of interior dominance. Tyrese Maxey’s 33 points kept Philly competitive, but the Sixers couldn’t match Boston’s defensive intensity or bench impact.

Pelicans 117, Clippers 137

The Clippers cruised from start to finish, building a 20‑point cushion and keeping all starters under 30 minutes — the NBA equivalent of a stress‑free workday. New Orleans got 28 from Jeremiah Fears, but the Pelicans’ defensive breakdowns and lack of rim protection made this one feel over by halftime.

Kings 104, Lakers 128

The Lakers continue to feast on Sacramento. LeBron James and Luka Dončić combined for 54, and LA’s offense hummed with the kind of rhythm they’ve been searching for all season. Nique Clifford’s 26 was a bright spot for the Kings, but the Lakers’ physicality and shotmaking overwhelmed them in a wire‑to‑wire beatdown.

Fast Break Recap: Day 11

Classic saw the lowest win rate out of the three versions of Fast Break, again, but only by the slimmest of margins. In fact, all three iterations had less than 50% earn a win, but each had more than 44%. Historic had the highest win rate with 49% followed by Pro with 46%. Classic was a hair behind at 44%.

Of the top five players who were utilized yesterday in Classic, only one scored at least 30 points - SGA. With his performance, he earned the Fast Break Stud of the Day; especially if he was your captain. Of the remaining four players, Kawhi Leonard scored the least points with 23, which earned him the Fast Break Dud of the Day.
