Hornets Continue Surge, Heat Close Strong, Lakers Roll in the Bay

NBA Recap: February 28, 2026

Trail Blazers 93, Hornets 109

Charlotte handled business and continued their 2026 turnaround, tightening their grip on the 9‑seed in the East with their sights set for a lower seed. All five Hornets starters scored in double figures, led by Brandon Miller’s 26 and Coby White’s 20 off the bench. Portland got 25 from Jrue Holiday and 21 from Jerami Grant, but Charlotte’s balance and fourth‑quarter push turned a competitive game into a 16‑point win.

Rockets 105, Heat 115

Miami entered the fourth with only a two‑point edge, but Houston went ice‑cold for nearly three minutes down the stretch, and that was the difference. The Rockets had strong nights from Kevin Durant (32), Amen Thompson (20 points, 11 rebounds), and Tari Eason (10 points, 11 rebounds), but the bench offered little support. Miami countered with seven players in double figures, anchored by Bam Adebayo’s 24‑point, 11‑rebound performance, and closed the game with poise to protect their position in the East.

Raptors 134, Wizards 125

Toronto started slow and trailed early, but once they found their rhythm, Washington couldn’t keep pace. A dominant third quarter flipped the game, and Immanuel Quickley’s 27 points and 11 assists steered the Raptors to a road win. The Wizards had eight players in double figures — Will Riley’s 19 off the bench led the way — but no one broke through as a true go‑to scorer, and Toronto’s shotmaking carried the night.

Lakers 129, Warriors 101

Golden State, still without Stephen Curry, couldn’t keep up with a Lakers team searching for consistency and finding it tonight. Los Angeles rolled behind meaningful scoring from their top trio: LeBron James and Luka Dončić both flirted with triple‑doubles, and Austin Reaves added 18. The Warriors never found traction and fell behind by double digits early before the deficit ballooned to 28.

Pelicans 115, Jazz 105

In a matchup of two teams near the bottom of the West, New Orleans grabbed their 19th win of the season. Zion Williamson exited early after just 11 minutes due to an ankle injury, but the Pelicans got enough from Saddiq Bey (24 points) and four other double‑figure scorers to control the game. Utah welcomed back Keyonte George (17 points) and got a strong bench showing from Isaiah Collier (21 points), but limited production from the starters kept them from mounting a real comeback.

Fast Break Recap: Day 10

Classic saw the lowest win rate out of the three versions of NBA Top Shot Fast Break as only 18% walked away victorious. Historic claimed the spot with 58% winners compared to Pro which had 45%.

LeBron saw the highest utilization as he was included in 76% of lineups and his 9 assists led the way for the majority of collectors. His performance outpaced the rest, which earned him the Fast Break Stud of the Day. Unfortunately, but Jrue Holiday and Scottie Barnes were in the top five of utilization and both delivered a meager 4 assists, which derailed most lineups. As such, these two are you co-Duds of the Day.
