NBA Fast Break Classic | Run 8 | Day 10
Hornets Hold Off Spurs, Pacers Outrun Hawk, Bulls Steal One in Miami
NBA Recap: January 31, 2026
Spurs 106, Hornets 111
Charlotte keeps stacking quiet-but-real momentum, grinding out a home win behind timely shotmaking and a defense that tightened late. San Antonio flashed plenty of promise but couldn’t string together enough stops in the final four minutes, settling for another “almost” in a season full of them.
Hawks 124, Pacers 129
Indiana continues to live in the fast lane, and Atlanta was more than willing to match the pace. The Pacers’ offense hummed all night, and every time the Hawks threatened to flip the game, Indiana answered with a run. High-octane, high-possession, and ultimately another Pacers win that reinforces their identity: if you can’t keep up, you’re cooked. This also marked Indiana’s 13th on the season as they’ve played disrupter over the past few weeks.
Pelicans 114, 76ers 124
Philadelphia controlled the rhythm from the jump, leaning on steady halfcourt execution and a balanced scoring spread. Embiid looked like the Joel of old as he scored 40 points and gathered 11 rebounds to lead a balanced attack. New Orleans threatened from time-to-time, but the Sixers had an answer every time.
Bulls 125, Heat 118
Chicago walked into Miami and played with a confidence that felt earned and avenged their loss from two nights ago. Although the Bulls were without Giddey, Coby White, Nikola Vucevic, their young core showed up. The Bulls’ offense clicked in all the right ways, mixing drives, kick-outs, and midrange rhythm as Matas Buzelis, Ayo Dosunmu, and Patrick Williams all had big contributions. Miami made its push, as Miami always does, but Chicago’s late-game execution held firm. A strong road win for a team trying to define its ceiling.
Timberwolves 131, Grizzlies 114
Minnesota looked every bit like a team with playoff expectations, overpowering Memphis with size, tempo, and a steady stream of efficient possessions. The Grizzlies fought, but the Wolves’ physicality and depth kept the game tilted their way from the second quarter on. Anthony Edwards led the charge with 33 points and Rudy Gobert controlled the glass with 16 rebounds.
Mavericks 107, Rockets 111
Houston defended home court with a gritty, possession-by-possession win over Dallas. The Rockets’ defense delivered when it mattered most, forcing tough shots and closing out the final minute with poise. Cooper Flagg had another big day as he scored 34 points and gathered 12 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the balanced Rockets attack as they had six players in double figures.
Fast Break Recap: Day 9
At this point of the run, exceeding 50% in the win rate is a collective accomplishment. Classic barely crested this goal with 56%, Pro only had 27%, and Historic had a relatively low win rate of 72%.
Rudy Gobert was the most utilized player and he delivered for his patrons as he gathered 16 rebounds along with 3 blocks. His performance earned him the Fast Break Stud of the Day award. Wemby was the fifth most utilized player and had an unusually lackluster performance in the rebound and block categories as he had 8 in the former and none in the latter. His performance, especially if he was your captain, earned him the Fast Break Dud of the Day award.
