NBA Fast Break Classic | Run 7 | Day 5
Magic Own Berlin, Spurs Surge, Warriors Keep Climbing
NBA Recap: January 15, 2026
The Berlin game set the tone early: Orlando beat Memphis 118–111, powered by a moment that instantly went viral — Anthony Black rising over four Memphis defenders for a dunk that detonated the arena. The play became the signature highlight of the league’s international stop (and one that can be minted on NBA Top Shot), a jolt that swung momentum and sealed the win for the Magic.
Detroit followed stateside with a 108–105 win over Phoenix, a grind‑heavy matchup where the Pistons’ late‑game composure finally cracked the Suns’ push. Boston and Miami delivered one of the night’s most competitive games, with the Celtics escaping 119–114 behind disciplined half‑court execution and timely stops.
Oklahoma City kept its rhythm with a 111–91 win over Houston, using pace and defensive pressure to break the game open in the third. San Antonio delivered one of the night’s clearest statements, beating Milwaukee 119–101 by controlling the paint and dictating tempo from the opening tip. No hometown booing in Milwaukee either as the Bucks were on the road.
Dallas and Utah produced the offensive avalanche of the night — Mavericks 144, Jazz 122 — a performance led by a Klay Thompson of old as he sank six three pointers out of the team’s 19 of 46 shooting from outside. Golden State kept its climb alive with a 126–113 win over New York, riding a blistering shooting against a Brunson-less Knicks team.
Portland followed with a 117–101 win over Atlanta, a steady, professional effort where the Blazers controlled the middle quarters and never let the Hawks dictate rhythm. Charlotte closed the slate with a thunderous and shocking 135–117 win over the Lakers who faltered against a lesser team after scoring 141 points the day before. They have now lost 4 of 5 — three of which were against sub .500 teams.
Fast Break Recap: Day 4
Day 4 was the first day of this run where all three iterations of Fast Break saw a 66% or higher result. Pro, surprisingly, saw the highest win rate at 94% followed by 89% in Historic and 66% in Classic.
Sengun was the most utilized player in Classic as he was found in 69% of lineups and he delivered with a 14 point, 5 offensive rebound showing, which earned him the Fast Break Stud of the Day award.
Today’s Fast Break Objective(s): Day 5 of 11
Objective(s): 15 Three Pointers Made & 25 Three Point Attempts (3.0 3PM & 5.0 3PA)
You’ll need five (5) players who will make 15.0 or more and take 25.0 or more three pointers, which means each player needs to average 3.0 3PM & 5.0 3PA. The former will determine whether you win and the latter will dictate where you rank. Additionally, your captain can very well make or break your day…or at least cover another player in your lineup’s shortcomings.
Top Player Options:
Outside Snipers: Donovan Mitchell, Michael Porter, Tyrese Maxey, Trey Murphy
Top Five (5) Players in Classic Lineups: J. Harden (79%) | D. DiVincenzo (63%) | D. Mitchell (53%) | T. Murphy III (52%) | M. Porter Jr. (45%)
Upcoming Fast Break Objectives:
Tomorrow’s Objective(s): 25 Assists minus Turnovers (5.0 AST-TO)
Objectives Remaining (after today): AST-TO, PTS, REB, BLK, AST, STL, FGM, FGA, PITP, OREB
Considerations:
Memphis & Orlando have the least number of games remaining (2)
Sixteen (16) teams have the most number of games this run (4)
The always dreaded AST-TO is on Day 6 (tomorrow)
Three of the remaining seven days have two distinct objectives
Indiana, Minnesota, & Washington are playing the tail end of a back-to-back tomorrow
Every day this run has at least 12 teams in action, but none have more than 18
Statistical Approach:
Top players in three pointers made & three point attempts according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 average, and season averages, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ members, all active player stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.
