OKC Beat Spurs (Finally), Lakers Drop 141, Nuggets Escapes New Orleans

NBA Recap: January 13, 2026

The first game of the seven-game slate took place in Miami, where they welcomed Phoenix into town. The two teams were tied going into the fourth quarter and maintained that separation all the way down to the final minute of the game. Norman Powell knocked down a three pointer with 48 seconds to go and Phoenix had opportunities to tie or win, but an untimely flagrant foul by Dillon Brooks with 11 seconds to go was the nail in the coffin which allowed Miami to escape with a 127-121 win.

Minnesota led Milwaukee at the half by 31 points and never looked back as they blew out the Bucks in Milwaukee 139-106. Minnesota’s wasn’t the highest scoring effort in a single half yesterday as the Lakers dropped 81 points on the Hawks by the end of the second half. They would go on and carry that momentum into the second half as the beat Atlanta 141-116 in LA.

In Houston, the Rockets trailed Chicago at the half, but carried a strong second half to a 119-113 win over the Bulls. Denver traveled to New Orleans and finished strong against the Pelicans and won 122–116. Golden State rolled past Portland and didn’t appear to break a sweat.

Oklahoma City’s 2025-2026 arch nemesis came to town and they turned in a strong showing against a team who has beaten them three times this year. Yesterday, however, was not the fourth of the season, which could be the turning point for an OKC run of excellence. The Spurs would fall to the Thunder 119-98, but have likely circled their next (and final) regular season game, which is scheduled for February 4th, 2026.

Fast Break Recap: Day 2

After Day 1 where 57% of Fast Break participants earned a win, Day 2 was less successful as only 39% earned a win. Pro was less forgiving as only 11% walked away with a win compared to 92% in Historic.

Kevin Porter was the most utilized player yesterday and if he was your captain, he delivered 12 assists and 5 steals, which would have singlehandedly covered the steals goal. If not, he still had 8 assists and 3 steals, which means he earned the Fast Break Stud of the Day award. On the other hand, Jrue Holiday’s three assists and no steals were a backbreaker for many collectors. With his performance, he earned the not-so-coveted Fast Break Dud of the Day award.

Objective(s): 40 Field Goals Made & 50 Field Goal Attempts (8.0 FGM & 10.0 FGA)

You’ll need five (5) players who will make 40.0 or more and take 50.0 or more field goals, which means each player needs to average 8.0 FGM & 10.0 FGA. The per player threshold isn’t particularly high, but days like this can be derailed by a single player. Having the right captain, though, can make all the difference so choose wisely.

Top Player Options:

  • Shot Takers & Makers: Kawhi Leonard, Jalen Brunson, Jamal Murray, Lauri Markkanen, Pascal Siakam, Zion Williamson, Joel Embiid

  • Top Five (5) Players in Classic Lineups: J. Brunson (88%) | T. Maxey (83%) | D. Mitchell (83%) | K. Leonard (54%) | M. Porter Jr. (43%)

    • 1x: 3PM, 3PA, AST-TO, PTS, REB, BLK, AST, STL, FGM, FGA

  • Memphis, Milwaukee, & Orlando have the least number of games remaining (3)

  • Utah has the most number of games this run (6)

  • The always dreaded AST-TO is on Day 6

  • Six of the eleven days have two distinct objectives

  • New York & Utah are playing the tail end of a back-to-back tomorrow

  • Every day this run has at least 12 teams in action, but none have more than 18
