NBA Fast Break Classic | Run 6 | Day 10
OKC Storms Back, Suns Roll at Home, Rockets Drop Another in Portland (Again)
NBA Recap: January 9, 2026
Boston opened with a 125–117 win over Toronto, a game defined by the Celtics’ ability to control the middle quarters and keep the Raptors chasing. Philadelphia followed by beating Orlando 103–91, where they benefitted from an abysmal 12 point fourth quarter by the Magic. New Orleans rolled through Washington 128–107 in a battle of cellar dwellers thanks to 30-point games from both Trey Murphy and Zion Williamson along with the rookie Derik Queen’s triple double.
The Clippers handled business in Brooklyn, winning 121–105 behind a composed offensive rhythm that kept the Nets from ever finding a foothold. Oklahoma City and Memphis played one of the night’s tightest games, with the Thunder escaping 117–116 after being down by 19 at the half. Atlanta took advantage of a Joker & Murray-less Denver team and won by a score of 110-87.
Out West, Phoenix outlasted New York 112–107, closing with poise in a game that swung on late‑clock execution. The game was tied with two minutes remaining and Phoenix made the buckets that mattered down the stretch to earn a hard fought victory. Golden State detonated offensively and had the largest margin of victory of the 10-game slate as they beat Sacramento by a score of 137–103, running away with the game behind a blistering shooting performance in the second half that broke the Kings’ resistance.
Portland followed with a come from behind 111–105 win over Houston, where the Rockets imploded in the fourth quarter where they saw a 19 point swing in point differential. Milwaukee and the Lakers closed the slate with a tight finish, but the Bucks held on 105–101, stringing together enough stops in the final minutes to escape Crypto.com Arena with a road win.
Fast Break Recap: Day 9
Only two days this run has seen a higher than 38% win rate and yesterday was not one of them as only 13% walked away winners. Pro mode was even worse as only 11 total collectors earned a win compared to 93% in Historic.
Steph Curry was utilized in 61% of lineups and he delivered as he made 6 of 12 from outside. With his performance, he earned the Fast Break Stud of the Day award. On the other hand, MPJ couldn’t buy a bucket from outside and turned in a goose egg out of nine attempts. His poor showing earned him the Fast Break Dud of the Day award.

Your captain will play a meaningful role in whether you win or lose considering they’ll be responsible for covering the bulk of the day — especially knowing a single player could sink your chances at a win today.
