NBA Fast Break Classic | Run 6 | Day 2

Sixers Roll in Dallas, Heat Handle Detroit, Kawhi Drops 45 on Kings

NBA Recap: January 1, 2026

Miami set the tone early in the day with a 118–112 win over Detroit, leaning on balanced scoring and a steady fourth‑quarter push to keep the Pistons at arm’s length. It wasn’t a blowout, but it never felt out of control either — the kind of professional road win that good teams bank in January.

Houston followed with the most lopsided result of the slate, beating Brooklyn 120–96 behind a defensive effort that smothered the Nets from the opening tip. The Rockets controlled the glass, controlled the pace, and controlled the scoreboard — a wire‑to‑wire win that looked even more comfortable than the final margin.

Philadelphia opened the new year by beating Dallas 123–108, riding Tyrese Maxey’s 34‑point, 10‑assist, 8‑rebound masterpiece. Joel Embiid added 22, rookie VJ Edgecombe chipped in 23, and the Sixers’ offense kept the Mavericks chasing all night. Dallas got Anthony Davis back from injury, but the Mavericks never found enough scoring pop to match Philly’s pace.

Boston kept the theme going with a 120–106 win over Sacramento, a game where it was closely contested through three quarters, but fell apart for the Kings in the 4th. The Clippers wrapped the slate with a 118–101 win over Utah, who were also derailed in the final frame as Kawhi dropped 45 points on the shorthanded Jazz.

Fast Break Recap: Day 1

Not the start anyone wanted as only 38% of Fast Break Classic participants earned a win. Pro was also a struggle as only 15% earned a win. Historic, on the other hand, was the glimmer amongst the chaos as 93% walked away victorious. Amongst the top five most utilized players, Norman Powell was the highest contributor as he made 7 of 14 outside shots, which earned him the Fast Break Stud of the Day.

On the other hand, Duncan Robinson was the lowest contributor as he made only one make out of five attempts. His lackluster performance earned him the Fast Break Dud of the Day award.
