WEMBY UNLEASHED — 41 AND 16 FOR SAN ANTONIO

San Antonio Spurs 129, Chicago Bulls 114

Victor Wembanyama was the show from the opening tip — 41 points on 17-of-27 shooting (3-of-6 from three), 16 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks, and 71.3% true shooting. He scored 12 second-chance points and attacked Chicago's interior all night, converting at 76.5% at the rim. When he wants to impose himself physically, there is no center in the league capable of stopping what he does. Stephon Castle backed him up with 21 on 6-of-12 shooting and 10 assists — his second straight game with a double-double. Keldon Johnson had 15 off the bench with 10 fast-break points.

Tre Jones had 23 on 9-of-13 shooting with 80.3% true shooting, Leonard Miller went 9-of-14 for 21 with 8 second-chance points, and Josh Giddey had 9 points, 7 boards, and 10 assists. But Chicago had no answer for Wemby in the post, and San Antonio's 28 second-chance points off 16 offensive rebounds told the real story. The Spurs move to 57-18, still chasing OKC and are 2.5 back with seven games remaining.

LUKA HITS 12 STRAIGHT AS LAKERS CRUISE

Los Angeles Lakers 120, Washington Wizards 101

Thirty-four points. Twelve consecutive games with 30 or more. Luka Doncic continues his hot scoring streak as he dropped 34 points on efficient shooting and the usual command of tempo. Austin Reaves added 19 with 9 assists. Luke Kennard came off the bench and connected on 4-of-5 from three for 19 on 91.0% true shooting. Deandre Ayton went 5-of-5 from the field for 12 with 3 blocks. LA led by 30 at their peak and converted 21 fast-break points on 13 attempts. Washington's Will Riley had 20 in a losing effort.

The Lakers are 49-26 and currently hold the West's 3-seed, but the Nuggets are only 1.5 games behind them.

MITCHELL AND MOBLEY TORCH UTAH — 34 APIECE

Cleveland Cavaliers 122, Utah Jazz 113

Two 34-point nights. Same team. Different weapons. Donovan Mitchell came alive on 10-of-18 shooting (3-of-8 from three) and went 11-of-12 from the free throw line, drawing 7 fouls and finishing at 73.0% true shooting — his best performance in two weeks. Evan Mobley, meanwhile, was a machine at the rim — 15-of-21 from the field (71.4%), exclusively two-point looks, 17 rebounds, and 73.3% true shooting. Together they combined for 68 points on 25-of-39 shooting. James Harden contributed 13 points and 14 assists — a 14:1 assist-to-turnover ratio. Cleveland's three-point shooting was below average on the night (18.8%), but they converted at 83.3% at the rim and dominated the paint.

Utah's Kyle Filipowski had 20 points with 10 rebounds in a double-double effort, and Brice Sensabaugh added 18. But Utah found themselves down 15 at one point and could never fully close the gap despite cutting it to single digits in the third. Cleveland is 47-28 and locked in at the East's 4-seed with the final few games serving as fine-tuning before the playoff run begins. They trail New York by only 1.0 games, so there’s a path to improve to the 3-seed.

ATLANTA'S THIRD QUARTER BURIES BOSTON

Atlanta Hawks 112, Boston Celtics 102

Atlanta dropped a 36-22 third quarter that broke up a game where it was close through two periods. Onyeka Okongwu was the engine — 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting (4-of-10 from three) with 10 rebounds and 3 steals. Jalen Johnson had 20 points with 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Dyson Daniels added 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting (2-of-3 from three) and 78.7% true shooting. It was a complete, all-around Atlanta effort that punished Boston's stagnant third-quarter offense where they were outscored by 14 points.

The Celtics had a strong performance from Jaylen Brown, who scored 29 points on 9-of-29 shooting. Although he was generating fouls (8 drawn) to keep the game within reach, his 9-of-29 from the field hindered their scoring threat. Luka Garza came off the bench and went 8-of-9 for 20 points with 9 rebounds in the losing effort. Boston falls to 50-25. Atlanta climbs to 43-33 and holds the East's 6-seed.

BOOKER AND GREEN TORCH MEMPHIS

Phoenix Suns 131, Memphis Grizzlies 105

Devin Booker was absolutely on fire — 36 points on 16-of-24 shooting (4-of-6 from three), a masterclass of mid-range and interior execution that finished at 75.0% true shooting. Jalen Green contributed 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting. Jordan Goodwin had 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists — a quiet all-around performance off the bench. Phoenix gathered 20 offensive rebounds, scored 24 second-chance points, and put up 39 assists on 55 made field goals. The fourth quarter was a 40-16 blowout that inflated the margin after a competitive 89-89 game through three.

Memphis fell apart in the fourth and turned the ball over 23 times on the night, surrendering 28 points off turnovers. Memphis is 25-50 and deep in lottery territory. Phoenix moves to 42-33, firmly in the West as the 7-seed which means home games throughout the play-in tournament.

DOSUNMU TRIPLE-DOUBLES AS MINNESOTA RUNS DALLAS OFF THE FLOOR

Minnesota Timberwolves 124, Dallas Mavericks 94

Ayo Dosunmu didn't make many headlines this season, but Monday night he earned one — 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting, 15 rebounds, and 12 assists, a genuine triple-double that was the centerpiece of a 30-point blowout. Minnesota led by as many as 33, scored 33 fast-break points, and outscored Dallas in three of four quarters. Julius Randle bounced back from a rough stretch with 24 on 9-of-14 shooting (3-of-4 from three) at 70.3% true shooting, Anthony Edwards had 17 efficient points in his return, and the Wolves' bench scored 53.

Dallas shot 34.8% from the field and went just 24.1% from three. Klay Thompson was 1-of-8 from outside and Khris Middleton turned it over 5 times. The only bright spot was Daniel Gafford with 21 on 9-of-11 shooting at the rim. Minnesota is 46-29 after this bounce-back performance, taking back the 5-seed in the West, but will need to hold off the Rockets to maintain it. An April 10th meeting with Houston may be pivotal for the standings.

BAM TAKES OVER AS MIAMI BEATS PHILADELPHIA

Miami Heat 119, Philadelphia 76ers 109

Bam Adebayo was dominant — 23 points on 5-of-11 shooting, 12-of-13 from the free throw line, 16 rebounds, and 6 assists. The free throw volume (he drew 7 fouls) was the difference-maker as Miami outscored Philadelphia 22-17 at the line and their 30 fast-break points created a pace advantage Philly could never match. Tyler Herro had 30 points on 12-of-24 shooting, Pelle Larsson double-doubled with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Andrew Wiggins added 14 points with 3 steals.

Embiid had 26 for Philadelphia but needed 25 shots and 5 free throws to get there — 47.8% true shooting on a night Philadelphia needed more. Maxey had 23 points with 9 assists on 7-of-20 shooting. The Sixers are 41-34 and currently occupy the 7-seed in the East, but are in the middle of a logjam as 5-10 are only separated by 3 games. Part of that logjam includes Miami, who improves to 40-36 but occupy the 9-seed.

OKC SURVIVES DETROIT IN OVERTIME

Oklahoma City Thunder 114, Detroit Pistons 110

This was supposed to be a routine home game for the league's best team, especially as Detroit continued to be without Cade Cunningham. The Pistons led by seven points with four minutes in the 4th quarter and looked poised to upset the defending champions. Over the next minute and a half, the Thunder would score 6 straight points to shrink the lead to one with 2:41 to go. OKC would take a brief lead with under a minute to play, but Reed’s two free throws sent the game into overtime where the Thunder would prevail.

SGA led OKC with 30 points, Chet Holmgren had 13 points and 9 rebounds, and Ajay Mitchell was excellent off the bench with 14 and all 6-of-6 from the line. Detroit's Kevin Huerter went 7-of-16 for 17 with 6 assists. Ausar Thompson was the spark plug — 8 points but 5 assists and 3 steals in a game that nearly ended Detroit's evening with an upset.

OKC's free throw shooting carried them in overtime (28-of-32 on the night). Detroit could not convert the same opportunity as they went just 12-of-23 from the line, and when it counted in the extra period, their misses were the margin. OKC moves to 60-16 and maintains the West's 1-seed with a 2.5 game cushion over San Antonio. Detroit drops to 54-21 as the East’s 1-seed with 4.0 game cushion over Boston.

⭐ STAR OF THE NIGHT

Victor Wembanyama | San Antonio Spurs - 41 PTS | 17-27 FG | 16 REB | 4 AST | 3 BLK | 71.3% TS

Forty-one points and 16 rebounds from a 22-year-old center who also altered the game defensively. The shot distribution was clean — he attacked the paint with intent, drew fouls, converted at an elite rate, and didn't force the three-point shot that defined some of his shakier nights earlier this season. On a night with eight quality games to choose from, Wembanyama was the most dominant individual performer on the floor and bolts to the top of the MVP conversation.

💀 DUD OF THE NIGHT

Jaylen Brown | Boston Celtics - 29 PTS | 9-29 FG | 41.2% TS | -5 | L

Brown returned from his absence and Boston lost. He generated fouls and reached 29 points through volume and aggression, but 9-of-29 from the field at 41.2% true shooting with 6 turnovers is a performance that derailed Boston's offense in the third quarter.

QUICK TAKES

  • Wembanyama had 41 points and 16 rebounds at 71.3% TS while Castle 21 points and 10 assists on the same night. San Antonio is only 2.5 games behind first place OKC and have a chance at catching them if the Thunder falter.

  • Luka's streak hits 12 consecutive games scoring 30 or more points.

  • Mitchell 34, Mobley 34 — Cleveland's 1-2 punch is operating at its ceiling. Harden with 14 assists on the same night. The Cavaliers look dangerous.

  • OKC nearly lost to Detroit at home. Needed 28 free throw attempts and overtime to survive. Their path to the 1-seed is secure (for now), but the Spurs are close behind.

  • Dosunmu triple-double: 18 points, 15 rebounds, & 12 assists. Minnesota rebounds and smashes Dallas 124-94. They are back in 5th place, but Houston is fighting for the same spot.

  • Booker had 36 points on 75% TS. Jalen Green with 21 points. Phoenix is 42-33 and have a firm hold on the 7-seed.

  • Atlanta needed a win against Boston and earned one behind Johnson and Okongwu’s play. They are sitting comfortably in 6th and have their sights set on the 5-seed.

  • Bam scored 23 points and gathered 16 rebounds. He's been the most important piece of this team all season in both wins and losses and tonight was a direct reflection of that reliance on him.
